No pride in occupation, daarover is geen debat mogelijk. Dat Nederlandse bedrijven nog altijd handel drijven in bezet Palestijns gebied is een bron van schaamte. En dat Booking - dat nog altijd kamers in illegale nederzettingen verhuurt - de Pride in Amsterdam sponsort, is meer dan gênant. BDS sponsort deze Pride het tegengeluid en hangt in Amsterdam waarschuwingsposters op.

Waar overigens ook geen debat mogelijk is, is Tivoli/Vredenburg in Utrecht. Daar werd een debatwedstrijd afgelast vanwege deelname door Israëlische universiteiten. Want druk helpt en protest heeft zin.

Deze week werd opnieuw duidelijk hoezeer de situatie in Palestina en Israël ook Nederland raakt.

In Rotterdam ontstond breed protest toen duidelijk werd dat de Israëlische ambassadeur een podium zou krijgen bij een herdenking van vermoorde Joodse kinderen. In Utrecht annuleerde TivoliVredenburg de finale van een debattoernooi vanwege de geplande deelname van Israëlische universiteiten, en trokken ook Nederlandse universiteiten zich terug. En in onze rubriek Kort Nieuws volgden we de spoedklacht tegen een Israëlische reservist die zich in Nederland bevond.

Bij de herdenking in Rotterdam droegen vier Joodse bezoekers T-shirts met een oproep tot vrede en draaiden zij de Israëlische ambassadeur zwijgend de rug toe. Zij werden hardhandig verwijderd door omstanders. [c] ANP

Het zijn uiteenlopende gebeurtenissen, maar ze hebben één centrale vraag gemeen: hoe gaan Nederlandse instellingen om met vertegenwoordigers van een staat en een leger die worden beschuldigd van genocide, apartheid en oorlogsmisdaden?

Die vraag speelt niet alleen in de internationale politiek. Zij raakt aan onze herdenkingen, universiteiten, rechtsstaat, media en publieke instellingen.

Terwijl Israël in Gaza, op de Westelijke Jordaanoever en in Oost-Jeruzalem doorgaat met geweld, bezetting en kolonisering, wordt in Nederland nog altijd te vaak gedaan alsof vertegenwoordigers van die staat, zijn leger en zijn bondgenoten gewoon onderdeel kunnen zijn van herdenkingen, debatten en publieke instellingen.

Maar wie het devies 'nooit meer' serieus neemt, kan niet zwijgen over genocide. Wie veilig wil debatteren, kan oorlogsmisdaden niet normaliseren. En wie zegt op te komen voor internationaal recht, mag niet wegkijken wanneer verdachten van internationale misdrijven in Nederland gewoon kunnen rondlopen.

De gebeurtenissen van deze week maken duidelijk waarom The Rights Forum zich niet alleen op de politiek richt. Ook universiteiten, pensioenfondsen, culturele instellingen en andere maatschappelijke organisaties dragen verantwoordelijkheid.

Door hen aan te spreken op hun keuzes en te laten zien welke mogelijkheden zij hebben om in actie te komen, bouwen we aan een samenleving die mensenrechten en internationaal recht daadwerkelijk serieus neemt.

Vorige week lanceerden we onze nieuwe rubriek Kort Nieuws. Inmiddels is deze volop in gebruik. Elke dag publiceren we korte berichten over actuele ontwikkelingen in Palestina en Israël: van gebeurtenissen op de grond en politieke besluiten tot juridische procedures en internationale reacties.

De afgelopen dagen berichtten we onder meer over de spoedklacht tegen een Israëlische reservist in Nederland, de commotie rond de Israëlische ambassadeur in Rotterdam en de voortdurende ontwikkelingen in Gaza en op de Westelijke Jordaanoever. Oproep | Onderzoek naar trauma- en rouwervaringen van de Palestijnse gemeenschap in Nederland

Dr. Miriam Lommen, dr. Lonneke Lenferink en BSc Thessa Nanninga doen onderzoek naar hoe de mentale gezondheid van Palestijnen in Nederland wordt beïnvloed door Israëlisch geweld tegen Palestijnen. Aangezien een groot deel van de Palestijnse gemeenschap buiten Palestina woont, is het belangrijk om ook hen te betrekken bij het begrijpen en documenteren van de effecten van dit geweld.

Voor het onderzoek hopen zij in contact te komen met mensen met een Palestijnse achtergrond die in Nederland wonen, zodat zij hun ervaringen kunnen delen. Deelname aan het onderzoek bestaat uit een interview (van ongeveer een uur) en een online vragenlijst. Iemand kan deelnemen als zij 18 jaar of ouder zijn, een Palestijnse achtergrond hebben en in Nederland wonen.

I. Diplomacy and Movement-Building

Brazil: Deepening Roots in Latin America

We consolidated our Brazil team with further roles critical to our influence, deepening engagement across government, civil society, and media.

We finally deployed our first ever full time lobbyist in Parliament.

Our capacity-building program expanded with trainings covering Palestinian history, current developments, international law, advocacy strategy, and media bias. As one participant put it: “we should have monthly meetings like this to better understand Palestine while strengthening our common struggles.”

We continued supporting members of parliament through tailored research, policy briefs and advocacy efforts

China: A First Exploratory Mission

In the first half of the year we finalised our extensive research and creation of a proper China profile, needed to build any meaningful strategy.

In April, PIPD undertook its first exploratory visit to China. The mission opened meaningful dialogue with potential partners that are eager to engage on Palestine on both educational and cultural spheres an entry point PIPD values enormously. One of the early concrete outcomes we can reveal is a series of closed-door online knowledge-exchange webinars, connecting Palestinian and Chinese scholars, with further sessions planned through the year. We are working on something bigger that we hope to announce before end of the year!

Europe: Empowering Diaspora-led Diplomacy

We continued providing strategic support to the Palestinian movement in Europe in an effort to coordinate and focus towards specific targets where the counter movement is deeply rooted for over a hundred years. The nature of this work requires discretion, but it is deepening.

The second half of 2026 we are planning a series of joint sessions and convenings aimed at strategizing and prioritizing using tools such as media influence, narrative mainstreaming and fundraising capacity building.

II. Resourcing the Movement

Communicating Palestine

Since its launch in October 2025, the Communicating Palestine digital platform has grown from a guide into an active, trusted resource for advocates, communicators, and solidarity movements. The first half of 2026 focused on expanding reach, deepening engagement, and building interactive tools.

 

Between January and June 2026, the platform attracted 23,402 Page Views and 10,585 Active Users, reflecting strong global engagement in advocacy circles.

Content creators independently produced materials inspired by the guide, with two organic posts alone reaching more than 173,000 Likes.

Independent media (for whom our guide was built) also covered the guide, including The Polis Project and KKFI Radio.

 

We also gave a session at the Muslim Impact Forum, the largest gathering of muslim philanthropies, on streamlining Communicating Palestine guidelines in the humanitarian and relief sector.

 

We delivered seven tailored workshops, reaching more than 470 participants, primarily in Palestine and Europe, plus over 300 additional viewers through recorded sessions. Participants, from students to seasoned communications professionals, built practical skills in ethical and trauma-informed engagement, strategic communication, media engagement, and countering misinformation. As a participant put it:

"I left the training feeling more informed, more aware of the power of language, and better prepared to engage in meaningful discussions on [Palestine] and in ways that wasn’t reductive or perpetuated further harm. I would highly recommend this training to anyone looking to deepen their understanding and strengthen their communication skills when advocating for Palestine." Most significantly, PIPD received the 7amleh Palestine Digital Activism Award, recognition by a peer and movement for the impact of the platform for all Palestine advocates.

III. Building A Stronger Organization

Our work in multiple countries supporting a broader ecosystem for liberation requires solidifying the organization behind it.

The first half of 2026 was also dedicated to core organizational development, aligning our processes with our liberatory values.

• Our team and Board adopted a new set of key policies.
• We migrated our systems to our digital tools to non-US more affordable and secure platforms.
• We transformed our team structure and portfolios to better accommodate our role within our broader ecosystem.

Palestinian Community Leader Salah Sarsour Continues to Face Accelerated Deportation Proceedings in Immigration Court

July 29, 2026 — Chicago, Illinois — In Chicago Immigration Court today, Salah Sarsour, a legal, permanent resident and a Palestinian and Muslim community leader from Wisconsin, appeared again before an immigration judge as part of the Trump administration's attempt to remove Mr. Sarsour from the place he’s called home for more than 32 years.

Among the five witnesses are Bonita Cho, an immigration attorney and Amahl Bishara, Associate Professor and Chair of the Anthropology Department at Tufts University.

• Cho testified that Mr. Sarsour has consistently maintained that his Israeli military court convictions are the result of false confessions secured through torture and that Mr. Sarsour has consistently denied ever purposefully registering to vote.
• Bishara’s testimony illuminated how stone throwing by Palestinian children is often a form of expression in response to the illegal military occupation by Israel and not a form of violent resistance.

Mr. Sarsour shared: “This immigration proceeding has made it clear that I am being unfairly targeted by this administration for my advocacy on Palestinian human rights. I put my trust in God and my legal team to navigate this attack on me and the life I have built in America, and that I can continue to be with my family in Wisconsin as I have for the past three decades.”

Sarsour’s lead immigration court counsel Patrick Taurel, said: “It is an outrage that we are here at all. There can be no doubt that the Trump Administration is seeking to stifle pro-Palestine speech. Mr. Sarsour has been subjected to this traumatizing experience simply because they disfavor his speech. Worst of all, he now risks separation from his kids, grandkids, and everything he holds dear, all because he has been resolute in continuing to speak up about injustices being committed against Palestinians.”

Last year, we brought Mohammed Ibrahim home. 350 Palestinian children remain detained by Israel.

 

Last year, Israel illegally imprisoned Mohammed Ibrahim, a 16-year-old Palestinian-American citizen from Florida.

Mohammed was only 15 when he was blindfolded and taken by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) from his family's home in the occupied West Bank. During that time, he was subjected to conditions no child should ever experience.

His story is terrifying, but not unique. Today, approximately 350 Palestinian children remain imprisoned by Israel, the majority of whom have never been convicted of a crime. They continue to face the same military detention system that Mohammed survived.

Mohammed was held for nearly 10 months, unconvicted, before he was finally released, but his story signifies how much advocacy matters.

Last October, more than 600 advocates traveled to Washington, D.C., for Palestine Advocacy Days. AJP Action centered Mohammed's case in our asks, enabling advocates to meet with their members of Congress and demand they help secure Mohammed's release. A few months later, Mohammed came home.

That victory belongs to the thousands of Palestinian children and adults who remain in the Israeli military system. Until they are free, our work is not finished.

American tax dollars continue to fund policies that enable these abuses. The majority of Americans do NOT want our government to be writing blank checks for occupation, endless war, and human rights abuses - we need to make sure they hear us loud and clear.

Join us this September for Palestine Advocacy Days. Together, we'll continue:

• building the movement that secured Mohammed's release and fight for the hundreds of Palestinian children who remain imprisoned;
• demand justice for Sayfollah Musallet (Mohammed's cousin) and other Palestinian Americans murdered by Israeli forces and settlers;

Apartheid Israel’s military occupation forces have shielded Israeli settlers while they terrorized Palestinian communities, murdering, burning, and injuring hundreds. In a brazen display of impunity, Israel’s genocidal forces have launched massive collective punishment operations across the territory, committing more war crimes and enabling pogroms.

Following the Israeli settlers’ murder of four Palestinians defending their homes in Tell village near Nablus, the Israeli military imposed a suffocating lockdown and executed large-scale raids on the cities of Nablus and Jenin and surrounding villages. At least two Palestinian women were forced to give birth in vehicles at checkpoints, and one woman lost her unborn child due to road closures in Nablus. Dozens of Palestinians have been arrested and detained.

This is Naomi Klein; author, journalist, and climate justice scholar. When I wrote The Shock Doctrine back in 2007, I included a chapter on Palestine as a laboratory: a place where systems of surveillance, automated warfare, and population management are developed, tested, and refined. Two decades later, it is more obvious than ever: what happens in Palestine never stays there.

That’s why I'm writing to ask you to support Adalah Justice Project (AJP) to fight Israeli and U.S. technologies that threaten to normalize surveillance, control, and genocide.

When technologies built to monitor, restrict, and target an entire population become profitable exports, they do not remain confined to a single conflict.

They enter police departments, border agencies, prisons, and governments around the world. They normalize a political logic that says some lives can be subjected to constant surveillance, algorithmic control, and overwhelming force without meaningful accountability. They create new industries that need to report growth.

History shows that exceptional measures rarely remain exceptional. Once a society accepts that one population can be watched without privacy, controlled without rights, or killed without consequence, those practices become easier to justify elsewhere. Adalah Justice Project refuses this logic at its root, starting with defending Palestinian rights and equality. By doing so, it helps to defend us all. That is why there has never been a more urgent time to give it our support.

AJP organizers are building research, organizing campaigns, and challenging the growing alliance between Israeli technology, corporate profit, and authoritarian politics.

But this work depends on people who refuse to accept that the future must be built on systems of permanent surveillance and endless war.

Rotem here. I refused to serve in the Israeli occupation army as a teenager, and today I work as the media coordinator for Resistance Solidarity Network. I spend a lot of time on the ground at demonstrations, documenting the people in Israel/Palestine who are organizing and struggling against genocide and occupation. Of the many developments I document, one stands out as particularly important: we are seeing the rapid emergence of left-wing organizing in support of Palestinian prisoners beyond Palestinian society itself. Activists started their campaign by highlighting Palestinian doctors imprisoned by Israeli occupation forces in Gaza, like Dr. Husham Abu Safiya, but have expanded towards a broad call: free them all. The Palestinian prisoners movement is one of the central pillars of Palestinian politics and society, and we are seeing its cause transcend communal boundaries. This is not only powerful in its own right. It strengthens my belief in the growth of co-resistance, not coexistence, based in organizing around shared values, not just shared interests. This is the only way we can organize for justice for all.

Our role is to support resistance from within, and we rely on global support to carry out this work. IWe value whatever you can spare, but a monthly subscription makes the most impact. Over the last several weeks, I have witnessed a surge in organizing in support of Palestinian prisoners in Tel Aviv and elsewhere, not exactly traditional centers of organizing around the issue. New activist collectives have sprung up with Palestinian prisoners at their center.

These activists started out small, with a demonstration outside the Israeli Medical Association to highlight the complicity of Israeli doctors in the daily operations of Israeli prisons, which amount to torture camps with the assistance of Israeli doctors carrying out medically negligent operations among other reports that have emerged from rights groups.

Since then, their demonstrations have only grown, including a demonstration earlier this month we reported on last week outside the personal home of Liav Goldstein, the chief medical officer of Israel’s prisons. “You know exactly what is happening each and every day,” protesters blared on their loudspeakers. “Prisoners are emerging from your prisons starved; people are being beaten every day. Your face is known. You’re a criminal.”
Israel is ramping up its apparatus against Palestinians taken prisoner: the death penalty law, the increasingly gruesome stories and reports emerging from prisons-cum-torture camps told by survivors themselves and a growing number of prisoners.

This is not new: Palestinian prisoners have always determined the Palestinian political agenda precisely because the number of Palestinians taken prisoner is astounding. In the West Bank for example, virtually all Palestinians are related to or know someone who has been imprisoned. But the fascist Israeli state has ensured that the conditions of extra-judicial torture camps become the new status quo.

We must all take after these emerging groups organizing around the prisoners movement: they must lead our organizing work and resistance to genocide and occupation. We must amplify their voices to the world.

Highlights

• Fatalities linked to settler attacks in 2026 have already surpassed the total recorded during all of 2025, with 18 Palestinians killed as of 20 July compared with 17 throughout 2025.
• About 90 Palestinians were displaced by demolitions and settler attacks during the reporting period, most following a large-scale demolition carried out by Israeli authorities in a Bedouin community in Qalqiliya governorate.
• Demolitions and settler attacks continued to affect Palestinian homes, water systems, schools and livelihood assets, further undermining access to essential services and community resilience.
• In Gaza, deteriorating sexual and reproductive health conditions are placing pregnant women at growing risk: in the first half of 2026, nearly 4,000 miscarriage cases were recorded, severe maternal morbidity reached 82 cases per 1,000 deliveries, and more than 57 per cent of pregnant women were anemic.
• Nearly 630,000 tonnes of debris have been cleared from roads and essential service facilities to date across the Gaza Strip, but this remains only a fraction of the more than 60 million tonnes generated since October 2023, much of which remains inaccessible.

Overview

Across the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT), humanitarian needs continue to deepen as insecurity, access restrictions, repeated displacement and the erosion of essential services affect Palestinians in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. In the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, Israeli forces' operations, demolitions, settler violence and settlement expansion continued to drive displacement, casualties and property damage, with Bedouin and herding communities in Area C among the most affected. During the reporting period, demolitions and settler attacks displaced about 90 Palestinians and damaged homes, water and sanitation infrastructure and livelihood assets. Meanwhile, the number of fatalities linked to settler attacks in 2026 has already surpassed the total recorded during all of 2025.

In the Gaza Strip, civilians continued to face severe protection risks amid ongoing military operations, repeated displacement and widespread insecurity, while access constraints, shortages of essential supplies and funding gaps continued to hamper the humanitarian response. Deteriorating sexual and reproductive health indicators point to growing risks for women and girls, including high levels of pregnancy loss, maternal complications and anaemia. At the same time, overcrowded displacement sites, limited shelter capacity, damaged water and sanitation infrastructure, and the massive accumulation of debris continue to undermine safe living conditions and access to basic services, despite ongoing efforts to clear roads, restore critical infrastructure and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance.

Congress Must Be Reminded: The majority of Americans don't want their tax dollars funding Israel

Yesterday, the House passed H.R. 8800, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2027, by an extraordinarily narrow vote of 216–212.

This NDAA authorizes billions of dollars in weapons, military assistance, and other support that would further enable Israel’s occupation and genocide against Palestinians. It also includes a deeply alarming provision, Section 219, that would further integrate the U.S. military and defense supply chain with Israel’s military and defense sector. Members who stood on the right side of history need to know that we have their backs, and those who voted in favor of the bill need to know that we will hold them accountable. Find out how your Representative voted on the House-passed NDAA here.

Why This Vote Matters: The significance of this vote cannot be overstated. The near defeat of a traditionally “must-pass” defense bill is historic. With only six exceptions, every voting House Democrat opposed the legislation, alongside seven Republicans. That opposition sends a powerful message: Congress cannot continue treating unchecked military spending, unconditional support for Israel, and deeper integration between the U.S. and Israeli militaries as politically untouchable.

This fight is not over. The NDAA still needs to move through additional votes and negotiations in both the House and Senate before it can become law. Each stage presents another opportunity to remove its most dangerous provisions, or defeat the legislation altogether.

What You Can Do: Thank the representatives who opposed this legislation and let them know we expect them to continue fighting as the NDAA moves forward. Contact the representatives who supported it and make clear that their constituents reject billions more for war, unconditional support for Israel, and the further integration of the U.S. and Israeli militaries. Israeli Extremist Officials and Settlers Continue Provocations Against Al-Aqsa

Overnight, over 4,000 illegal Israeli settlers accompanied convicted terrorist and Israel National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and desecrated the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque during the Jewish holiday of Tisha B’av. Palestinian worshipers reported being beaten by Israel Occupation Forces (IOF) mid-prayer. As settlers desecrated Al-Aqsa grounds and prayed, Ben Gvir told the press: “We are seeing tremendous progress on the Temple Mount. Look at what’s happening here. Jews are praying and feel they are owners of this place. This has never happened before.”

Ben Gvir’s actions mark a series of state-backed provocations to weaken the Islamic identity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, remove Palestinians from occupied East Jerusalem, and take over Al-Aqsa Mosque completely. This past Ramadan, IOF shuttered Al-Aqsa and banned Palestinian worshippers from entering the compound grounds. A similar tactic was deployed on Eid al-Fitr as well. 

The abuses do not stop there. In March 2026, the Palestinian Jerusalem Governorate warned of organized settler efforts to carry out animal sacrifices inside or around the Al-Aqsa compound. Such actions are not only aimed at entrenching Israel’s presence at Al-Aqsa, but designed to provoke Palestinians and ignite widespread violence at Islam’s third holiest religious site.

International law makes clear that as an occupying power, Israel has no sovereign authority to make permanent changes to religious or cultural sites. Donald Trump, Mike Huckabee, and Jared Kushner are to blame for recent Israeli aggression toward Al-Aqsa. In 2017, the Trump administration recognized Israeli sovereignty over Jerusalem and its holy sites, contravening historical realities and international law. In May 2026, the U.S. announced it was coordinating with Israel to strip the Waqf of its custodianship to make way for what Israel calls “a multi-faith center.” If implemented, Israel would have significant influence in the appointment of imams, preachers, and mosque officials. Make no mistake, this is an attempt to alter the Islamic character and historical status of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Escalatory measures to defile Al-Aqsa coincide with Israel’s widespread brutality against the Palestinian people. In addition to its genocide in Gaza, Ben Gvir’s settler militias routinely attack and displace Palestinian families from their homes across the occupied West Bank.

As Israeli aggression intensifies against Palestinians, the U.S. House of Representatives voted yesterday to integrate Israel into its military, defense, and technological systems, allowing the occupation to exert significant influence in American affairs.

AMP condemns the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque and calls on the U.S. to take a clear and unequivocal stand against Israel's ongoing violations targeting Muslim and Christian holy places across occupied Palestinian territories. We further demand an immediate end to all U.S. political, military, and diplomatic support that enables Israel to continue these violations and abuses.

Growing up, I spent every summer in the occupied West Bank visiting my family. With each passing year, I watched Israel’s machinery of surveillance tighten around us.

First came the checkpoints. Then the cameras. Then the databases to link them both. Systems built to classify us, predict our actions, restrict our movement, and instill fear.

As I got older, I began to understand these systems were not only designed to watch Palestinians. They were designed to experiment on us, refine tools of control, and export those tools around the world.

That’s why the terrifying expansion of ICE and DHS surveillance that we’re seeing in the United States right now does not look new to me. It looks familiar.

If these systems continue expanding across borders, then our resistance to them has to be just as connected, strategic, and relentless.

Take Skydio, a U.S. company that makes AI-powered drones. In the first few weeks of Israel’s genocide, Skydio sent over a hundred drones to the Israeli military to be tested and honed on Palestinians. Since then, sales of 'battle tested' Skydio drones have ballooned as police departments and security agencies across the US have signed new contracts with the company.

Or we can look at Palantir, a company accused of providing the technology behind the Lebanon beeper attacks and under fire for its plans to lock Gaza down into zones of control. Palantir is also the target of U.S. immigrant rights and civil rights groups for its use to track, target, and criminalize migrants and organizers.

Our struggles are not separate fights. They are connected by the same corporations with the same goals: protect those in power by making entire communities easier to monitor, police, displace, and control—all while making a profit.


I know this fight seems daunting, but I also know what we’re capable of. Our movements forced one of the largest corporations in the world, Microsoft, to investigate the ways its technologies were being used to fuel Israel's genocide. This investigation led to Microsoft cutting services to the Israeli army's most powerful intelligence unit.

AJP is ready to take on this fight. We’ve hired a new organizer, and are ready to map the key actors, identify points of leverage, sharpen our narrative, and build the coalitions needed to confront these systems at scale.

Last week, we saw a seismic shift in D.C. politics.

On Wednesday, over a hundred Democrats in the House voted to end military funding to Israel. A majority of Democrats, including the House’s No. 2 Democrat, Rep. Katherine Clark and former speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi voted to cut $3.3 billion for Israel from the State Department spending bill. Two years ago, a similar measure got only 37 votes from House Democrats.

The day before, on Tuesday, the Senate voted to block the Pentagon spending bill (the N.D.A.A.) during the cloture vote for the first time in 16 years. The last time this happened was in 2010 because of GOP opposition to repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”

While many Senators last week cited the sheer size of the $1.15 trillion budget and the renewed attacks on Iran, several Senators released a letter citing their specific opposition to the Deadly Merger provision that would integrate Israeli and U.S. military tech and surveillance systems.

These shifts didn’t happen on their own.

In just the last week alone, AJP supporters made over 2,000 direct calls to Congress and participated in three phonebanks to drive another 1,300 calls from constituents in key districts.

Those calls built on years of grassroots pressure that is finally forcing our representatives to reckon with their complicity in Israel’s genocide in Gaza, its relentless attacks on Lebanon, and the deepening apartheid throughout Palestine.

You helped make this moment happen. What comes next is up to us.

We’ve hired a new organizer to help us meet the enormous opportunity of this moment. Now we need resources to conduct the research, advocacy, and communications required to expose the shifting nature of U.S. complicity in Israel’s crimes and mobilize people in the hundreds of thousands.

Today, 20 July 2026, the Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) filed an urgent criminal complaint with the Belgian Federal Prosecutor against a member of the Israeli armed forces identified at the Tomorrowland festival and currently present on Belgian territory. The complaint alleges the suspect’s involvement in war crimes committed in Gaza during Israeli military operations conducted between 2023 and 2024.

Suspect Present on Belgian Territory

Given the immediate risk that the suspect could leave the country, HRF has requested urgent investigative and preventive measures. Specifically, the Foundation has asked the Belgian Federal Prosecutor to refer the case without delay to an examining judge and to take all necessary steps to ensure the suspect remains available to Belgian judicial authorities.

 

The suspect's presence in Belgium provides the jurisdictional basis required under Article 14/10 of the Belgian Code of Criminal Procedure for Belgian authorities to investigate allegations of international crimes committed abroad.

Factual Basis for the Complaint

According to evidence gathered and analysed by HRF, the suspect served in an Israeli military unit deployed in Gaza City and Rafah between October 2023 and November 2024.

 

The complaint focuses specifically on the destruction of Palestine Square and surrounding buildings in the Rimal neighbourhood of Gaza City in December 2023. HRF’s investigation indicates that numerous civilian structures were systematically destroyed using armoured vehicles, military bulldozers, and controlled demolitions.

 

The impacted structures included residential buildings, commercial properties, public offices, and educational facilities, including the Atfaluna Society for Deaf Children.

The complaint argues that this conduct may constitute war crimes under Article 8 of the Rome Statute, including:

• Intentionally directing attacks against civilian objects

• Extensive destructionof property not justified by military necessity and carried out unlawfully and wantonly

• Attacking or bombarding, by whatever means, towns, villages, dwellings, or buildings, which are undefended and which are not military objectives

 

HRF has submitted evidentiary material concerning the suspect’s military service, deployment, unit affiliation and alleged connection to the operations described in the complaint.

Previous Belgian Proceedings at Tomorrowland

This is not the first time HRF has initiated legal proceedings concerning suspected perpetrators of war crimes identified at the Tomorrowland festival.

 

On 18 July 2025, HRF, in cooperation with the Global Legal Action Network, filed a complaint in Belgium against two Israeli soldiers present at the festival grounds in Boom. Belgian federal police subsequently detained and questioned both individuals.

 

Although they were later released and permitted to leave Belgian territory, the proceedings continued. On 29 July 2025, the Belgian Federal Prosecutor referred the case to the International Criminal Court (ICC) pursuant to the procedure set out in Article 14/10 of the Belgian Code of Criminal Procedure.

 

That case demonstrated that Belgian authorities are prepared to take immediate investigative action when alleged perpetrators of international crimes are identified on Belgian soil.

“Every soldier bears individual criminal responsibility for war crimes, regardless of rank or the orders received. By filing this complaint in Belgium, we are challenging the culture of impunity that has shielded perpetrators of crimes against Palestinians for decades.

 

The presence of an alleged perpetrator on Belgian territory creates both an opportunity and an obligation for Belgian authorities to act. Belgium must uphold its international obligations, and we expect the Federal Prosecutor to fulfill that duty without delay.”

“The principle of aut dedere aut judicare—extradite or prosecute—is not an aspiration or a political choice. It is a binding obligation under international law. When a person credibly alleged to have participated in grave breaches of international law is present on Belgian territory, the authorities must respond effectively.

 

The evidentiary threshold for opening a criminal investigation has been met, and the urgency created by the risk of the suspect’s departure from the country requires the immediate referral of the case to an examining judge.”

 

Why This Matters

Every legal filing erodes impunity. This complaint forms part of HRF's broader international strategy to pursue individual criminal responsibility for war crimes, crimes against humanity, and acts of genocide committed in Gaza.

 

Since 2024, HRF has submitted more than 90 criminal complaints and other legal filings across more than 30 jurisdictions. These proceedings have resulted in a range of procedural developments, including arrests, police interrogations, and criminal investigations in countries including Brazil, Peru, Canada, and Greece.

 

Through this offensive litigation strategy, HRF seeks to ensure that individuals accused of international crimes cannot evade accountability by travelling or residing outside Israel.

Yesterday, 17-year-old Palestinian National Youth Team player Fadi al-Naasan succumbed to his wounds after an illegal Israeli settler attacked in the occupied Palestinian West Bank last week.

He is the 1013th Palestinian sportsperson to be killed by Israel since the start of its genocide.

As millions watched the Egypt v Argentina, genocidal Israel killed Mohammed Al-Wuhaidi, who had organized World Cup screenings under impossible circumstances for displaced Palestinians in Gaza.

As Brazil played Japan, Israel assassinated Saleem Al-Ashqar, Palestinian goalkeeper for Khadamat Khan Younis while returning to his home in Gaza.

Earlier this month, activists gathered outside the home of Liav Goldstein, the Chief Medical Officer of the Israel Prison Service, to demand accountability for the treatment of Palestinian prisoners and detainees. The protest, organized by the Return the Palestinian Abductees initiative, called attention to the ongoing reports of torture, medical neglect, and inhumane conditions inside Israeli prisons. Protesters demanded justice for Palestinian prisoners, including Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza who has been held in Israeli detention since December 2024.

And we must amplify resistance from within.

Constitutional Rights Upheld in Major Ruling in Favor of Palestine Advocacy

In a resounding victory, a federal court has ruled that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) violated American Muslims for Palestine Executive Director Dr. Osama Abu Irshaid’s Fourth Amendment rights. The ruling stems from two incidents in 2024 in which Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents seized Dr. Abu Irshaid’s devices to conduct “advanced” searches upon his arrival in the United States after traveling overseas.

Today, the Eastern District Court of Virginia rejected the government's arguments that statements made about AMP by the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability were just cause for agents to search Dr. Abu Irshaid’s devices. AMP is very grateful to the Council for American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Gadeir Abbas, Ahmad Kaki, Catherine Keck, Elizabeth Dexter, John Fossum, and CAIR’s extraordinary legal team for defending Dr. Abu Irshaid’s rights.

“We are thrilled for Dr. Abu Irshaid and expect the searches of his phone to end following this decision,” said Ahmad Kaki, staff attorney at CAIR Legal Defense Fund.“This is an important step toward vindicating his constitutional rights, and we hope it paves the way for ending the government’s practice of targeting Palestinian activists and Muslims for these phone searches.”

Not only is this a victory for Dr. Abu Irshaid, but a victory for the pro-Palestine movement overall. For decades, allies who support Palestinian human rights have been systematically targeted by the U.S. government for daring to speak out against Apartheid Israel.

“This court ruling confirms that the government has been abusing the law to infringe upon our constitutionally protected rights, rights which are clear and not subject to arbitrary reinterpretation,” said Dr. Abu Irshaid. “The primary objective behind targeting me and others like me is to prevent us from continuing to defend the rights of the Palestinian people in the face of Israel’s machinery of genocide, which is supported by the U.S. government.”

Today’s decision continues AMP's legal win streak. Our organization has been systematically targeted and smeared by the U.S. government in conjunction with nefarious Zionist forces that seek to discredit the Palestinian narrative. In the words of Dr. Abu Irshaid, “we reaffirm that we will not allow fear to overcome or deter us from continuing our work in pursuit of justice for Palestine. Nor will threats intimidate us or prevent us from striving to change our country’s policies so that they are more just, principled, and aligned with the views of the majority of Americans.”

De Israëlische ambassadeur in Nederland, Zvi Aviner Vapni, spreekt donderdag 30 juli op een herdenking van de deportatie en moord op 686 Joodse kinderen in Rotterdam vanaf 1942. Dat staat in een uitnodiging voor de herdenking die de The Rights Forum heeft gezien.

Weerstand uit wijkraden
Binnen wijkraden van Rotterdam heerst ongemak over het spreken van een vertegenwoordiger van Israël, omdat deze staat verantwoordelijk is voor de moord op meer dan 20.000 kinderen in de Gazastrook. Het was de bedoeling dat een krans zou worden gelegd namens alle wijk- en dorpsraden, maar verschillende wijkraden willen daar niet aan mee doen.

Zo stemde de wijkraad van Bloemhof, onderdeel van het gebied Feijenoord waar de kranslegging zal plaatsvinden, unaniem tegen deelname. ‘Het is pijnlijk te moeten weigeren mee te doen aan de kranslegging, maar je wilt deze herdenking waardig doen. En een toespraak van een vertegenwoordiger van Israël tast de waardigheid aan’, zegt Benjo Zwarteveen, wijkraadslid van Bloemhof namens de Partij voor de Dieren.

Verontwaardiging vanuit Joodse hoek
Ook vanuit Joodse hoek klinkt verontwaardiging over de geplande toespraak van de omstreden ambassadeur.

‘Bij zo’n herdenking wil je geen vertegenwoordiger van een fascistisch land hebben, en al helemaal niet van een land dat zich recent schuldig heeft gemaakt aan het vermoorden van meer dan 20.000 kinderen’, zegt Jaap Hamburger van Een Ander Joods Geluid. ‘De eerste die weg zou moeten blijven, is Israël.’

Volgens Hamburger wordt de herdenking besmeurd en ongeloofwaardig als de Israëlische ambassadeur komt spreken. Dit zou de vermoorde kinderen die worden herdacht ‘onteren’, aldus Hamburger. ‘Het is een schande tegenover deze kinderen.’

Petitie | Israëlische klimbond draagt bij aan apartheid, Nederlandse klimmers roepen op tot schorsing

Op 23 juli stemt de Internationale Klimbond over de schorsing van de Israëlische Klimfederatie ICLA.

De ICLA zet klimroutes uit voor Israëli's op de bezette Westelijke Jordaanoever, terwijl Palestijnse klimmers worden beschoten, omsingeld door militairen, en van rotsen worden verjaagd. Ondertussen komen Israëlische klimmers er op hun vrije dagen klimmen en wordt het omschreven als 'mooiste klimplek van Israël'.

Vanwege de medeplichtigheid van de Israëlische klimbond aan etnische zuivering en apartheid roept een groep Nederlandse klimmers nu de Nederlandse Klim- en Bergsport Vereniging (NKBV) op om op 23 juli te stemmen voor het schorsen van Israël uit de World Climbing.

Sport is nooit neutraal. Lokale klimverenigingen, sportclubs en federaties hebben de macht en de verantwoordelijkheid om dat duidelijk te maken, door zich uit te spreken, door te stemmen voor schorsing, door niet mee te doen alsof deelname aan een competitie naast een genocide gewoon 'sport' is.

Rechter steekt stokje voor verdere vertraging F-35-rechtszaak

Vorige week vrijdag vond een zitting plaats in de F-35-rechtszaak die wij samen met PAX en Oxfam Novib tegen de Nederlandse staat voeren. De zitting pakte positief uit: de vertragingstactiek waar de staat op uit was, werd door de rechter niet goedgekeurd.

Geheim document
De zitting draaide om een technisch-juridische kwestie: de staat wilde een geheim document inbrengen waarin de Commandant der Strijdkrachten uiteenzet hoe het hele F-35-programma onder druk komt te staan als er geen onderdelen meer geleverd kunnen worden aan Israël. Dat document zou alleen vertrouwelijk aan de rechtbank worden voorgelegd, en had de behandeling van de zaak maanden tot zelfs een jaar kunnen vertragen.

Advocaat Liesbeth Zegveld, die The Rights Forum, Pax en Oxfam Novib vertegenwoordigt, verzette zich tegen de inbreng van het geheime document. Het zou inhoudelijk niet relevant zijn, vertraging van de inhoudelijke behandeling opleveren, én het zou een aantasting zijn van het principe dat alle procespartijen gelijke toegang hebben tot alle processtukken.

Geen verdere vertraging
De rechter stelde ons in het gelijk. De staat mag het geheime document voorlopig niet inbrengen, waardoor de inhoudelijke behandeling van de zaak zonder verdere vertraging doorgaat en uiterlijk in januari zal plaatsvinden.

Na afloop van de zitting zei Liesbeth Zegveld: 'De angstretoriek van de staat, die het beeld schetst alsof het stoppen van indirecte leveringen de veiligheid van Nederland en Europa in gevaar brengt, heeft het niet gehaald. De advocaten van de Staat moeten zich gewoon een beetje focussen op waar het hier om gaat: door- en uitvoer van onderdelen van Nederlands grondgebied naar Israël mag niet.'

Frontale aanval | ‘We gaan het Strafhof steen voor steen afbreken’

'De VS begint een campagne om de bedreiging van het Internationaal Strafhof voor Amerikaanse soevereiniteit te ontmantelen’. Dat was de kop van het persbericht dat het Amerikaanse ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken maandag uitstuurde.

In een opiniestuk in de Wall Street Journal stelt minister van Buitenlandse Zaken Marco Rubio het nog explicieter: ‘We zullen het Internationaal Strafhof ontmantelen, steen voor steen, indien nodig’.

Sancties
In het persbericht kondigde de VS een serie concrete acties aan om het Strafhof te ontmantelen. De Amerikanen zullen andere landen aansporen zich terug te trekken uit het Strafhof. Landen die steun van de VS krijgen, maar het Strafhof niet verwerpen, zullen onder druk worden gezet.

Daarnaast kondigde de VS meer sancties aan tegen medewerkers van het Hof, bovenop de al geldende sancties tegen acht rechters en drie aanklagers.

Consequenties voor Nederland
De nieuwe campagne heeft ook consequenties voor Nederland. In de Grondwet staat vastgelegd dat Nederland de ontwikkeling van de internationale rechtsorde moet bevorderen. Nu de VS officieel heeft aangekondigd deze rechtsorde te willen afbreken, is het aan Nederland om maatregelen te nemen ter bescherming daarvan. Doet Nederland dit niet, dan houdt ons land zich niet aan de eigen Grondwet.

Gerard Jonkman, directeur van The Rights Forum: 'Steunbetuigingen aan het Strafhof en uitingen van bezorgdheid over Rubio’s woorden zijn niet genoeg. Juist nu moet blijken of Nederland en Europa bereid zijn het Hof daadwerkelijk te verdedigen. Ook wanneer daaraan politieke en economische kosten verbonden zijn.'

EU blijft bezetting faciliteren: Commissie blokkeert importverbod nederzettingen

Deze week moest het gebeuren: na aandringen van ministers van Buitenlandse Zaken van EU-lidstaten en stijgende maatschappelijke druk zou de Europese Commissie voorstellen doen om de handel met illegale Israëlische nederzettingen in bezet Palestina te beperken.

Maar de Europese Commissie – voorgezeten door Ursula von der Leyen – wil er niet aan. Zelfs een importverbod van goederen uit nederzettingen – een beperkte maatregel om EU-beleid te laten voldoen aan verplichtingen op basis van internationaal recht – gaat haar te ver.

Daarmee blijft de EU de illegale Israëlische bezetting faciliteren en financieren. Dit is een directe schending van het internationaal recht, zoals het Internationaal Gerechtshof in juli 2024 nogmaals heeft bevestigd.

Highlights

• Continued military operations, new displacement and deteriorating access further limited humanitarian assistance and heightened protection concerns across Gaza.
• Agricultural recovery is at risk as animal feed shortages and soaring prices threaten livestock survival across the Gaza Strip.
• Engine oil shortages continue to disrupt essential water and sanitation services, increasing the risk of sewage overflows and public health hazards.
• Settler attacks have become a leading cause of Palestinian injuries in the West Bank, accounting for 55 per cent of all Palestinian injuries in 2026.
• Israeli settlers demolished the abandoned Al Yanoun School, while Ar Rifa'iyya School became at imminent risk of demolition following an Israeli court ruling. Overall, 84 schools in Area C and East Jerusalem remain under pending demolition or stop-work orders.
• Jabal al Aqra'a became the 47th Palestinian community to be fully displaced following recurrent settler attacks and related access restrictions since January 2023.

Overview

Across the OPT, insecurity, access restrictions, repeated displacement and funding gaps continue to deepen humanitarian needs while constraining response efforts. In the Gaza Strip, ongoing military operations, movement restrictions and insecurity are driving new displacement, disrupting humanitarian operations and limiting access to food, water, shelter, health care and other essential services. Shortages of critical supplies, including engine oil and animal feed, are further undermining water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services, food security and agricultural recovery.

In the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, Israeli forces’ operations, demolitions, settlement expansion, settler violence and movement restrictions continue to drive displacement, heighten protection risks and undermine access to housing, livelihoods, education and other essential services. Settler attacks have emerged as a leading driver of Palestinian injuries and displacement in 2026, with Bedouin and herding communities in Area C particularly affected.

Yesterday 104 members of Congress voted to cut $3.3 billion in annual military funding to Israel.

 

While the vote ultimately failed, it represents a seismic shift in U.S. politics. The majority of Democrats refused to approve military funds to Israel.

 

The last time the House of Representatives held a similar vote was in April 2024 when President Biden asked Congress to approve billions more in funding to Israel during the genocide. At that time, only 37 Democrats opposed additional billions. Yesterday, 103 Democrats voted to stop the annual flow of money we send.

 

It took genocide to get here. For decades, the U.S. has fueled Israel’s atrocities, and it took unimaginable horrors and massacres to force Congress's hand. And we still have so much work ahead to actually change policy. But this vote shows that our organizing is working.

 

The vote's roll call highlights just how far our movements have come. Virtually every serious progressive Jewish member voted in favor of the amendment; former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and current Minority Whip Katherine Clark voted in favor; and even several members of Congress who have been endorsed by AIPAC bucked the lobby group's priorities and voted to cut funding. 

What JVP did — and what we’re going to do.

In the past week, JVP directly lobbied offices. But that work only had purchase because of how you — organized member leaders, members, and allied activists — wrote and called offices relentlessly. Together, we drove over 750 calls in the twenty-four hours leading up to the vote.

 

We are just beginning. This vote happened before our incoming class of pro-Palestine champions comes into office, including JVP Action endorsed candidates like Rev. Dr. Frederick Douglass Haynes III (TX), Chris Rabb (PA), Dr. Adam Hamawy (NJ), Darializa Avila Chevalier (NY), Claire Valdez (NY), and Melat Kiros (CO).

Meanwhile, we are on the ground every week in St. Louis organizing to send Cori Bush - one our biggest champions in DC - back to Congress, after AIPAC bought her seat in 2024.

 

And for the first time ever, JVP Action is endorsing a candidate for the United States Senate: Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan. Michigan is a battleground that helps decide who wins the White House — and we intend to win it.

 

This is one core piece of how we end U.S. complicity in Israeli apartheid and genocide. We organize and fight to move those currently in power, and we mobilize to elect new champions. Then we do it again.

 

We will not stop until we end military funding to Israel, enact a full arms embargo, and halt all forms of U.S. support for Israel’s atrocities.

Applications are closing for our Fall Olive Harvest Brigade on July 20th!

This fall, we will be leading our second Olive Harvest Brigade to support Palestinian farmers and agricultural projects during the important olive harvest season.

Palestinian farmers are increasingly facing violence, land theft and destruction, and restricted access to their olive groves, especially in areas close to settlements or the apartheid wall. Through the presence of our brigade, we aim to support the Palestinian people's right to remain, to harvest freely, and to thrive in their own homeland. Delegates will be placed in various cities and communities, working alongside Palestinian families. Activities will include olive harvesting, gardening, and land reclamation, as well as other community-directed efforts that help preserve both culture and livelihood.

In a couple of hours, the House of Representatives will vote on an amendment that would block $3.3 billion in military funding to Israel.

This is shaping up to be a major battle within the Democratic party, with Democratic leadership split on the vote and the Congressional Progressive Caucus urging members to vote yes.

 

This is an opportunity to see exactly which Representatives are ready to listen to the majority of Americans to stop funding genocide.

For decades we watched a Washington consensus fuel Israel’s atrocities with unwavering support. The only question in Congress was who could procure more money, more weapons for Israel.

 

Today we have a chance to crack that consensus apart.

ICYMI, the deadly proposal to permanently merge the U.S. and Israeli militaries, backed by war criminal Netanyahu himself, is up for a Senate vote this Tuesday, July 14. Read that again.

This “Deadly Merger” is buried within the annual U.S. military spending bill. The Israeli lobby knows Americans will fight to ensure the next Congress stops arming Israel. So they’re pushing to bypass congressional oversight entirely and make U.S. complicity permanent, cementing Israel’s foothold in our government.

In total, the 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) would:

• Increase U.S. military spending to a whopping budget of $1.5 trillion
• Integrate U.S. and Israeli military technology, intelligence systems, and research through shared databases and weapons coproduction
• Rob voters of representation by shielding this deadly U.S.-Israel military merger from all congressional oversight votes.

On July 9, six top Senate Democrats including Senators Chris Van Hollen and Bernie Sanders released a letter urging fellow Democrats to prevent the NDAA from proceeding to the floor unless the proposal to merge our military with the Israeli military is removed. If enough Senators vote against proceeding to a floor vote, it will force further negotiation on the NDAA, creating an opening to cut the Deadly Merger and other egregious provisions.

It’s on us to turn up the heat and make sure Senators act in the best interests of their constituents—not a foreign government.

Highlights

• Across the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Israeli access restrictions, insecurity and funding shortfalls continue to constrain humanitarian operations.
• In the West Bank, successive movement restrictions have effectively isolated approximately 12,000 Palestinians in communities west of Ramallah, where the transfer of a four-month-old Palestinian baby to hospital was delayed at an Israeli-staffed road gate. The infant was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
• In 2026, over 3,200 Palestinians have been displaced across the West Bank by settler attacks and demolitions for lack of Israeli-issued building permits – an average of 17 people per day, double the daily rate over the preceding three years.
• In Hebron's H2 area, Israeli forces installed a gate restricting one of the last remaining access routes to the Old City, further expanding an increasingly institutionalized system of movement restrictions affecting about 7,000 Palestinians.
• In Gaza, with most people already displaced, new displacement along the “Yellow Line” continues amid ongoing military operations.
• Aid work is increasingly exposed to insecurity and delays as external actors exploit humanitarian shipments to smuggle high-value items into Gaza, where the de facto authorities attempt to locate and confiscate them.
• The number of families receiving shelter assistance in Gaza fell by 37 per cent from May to June due to funding shortfalls.

Overview

Across the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT), humanitarian space continues to shrink as insecurity, expanding movement and access restrictions, repeated displacement and funding shortfalls increase humanitarian needs while constraining humanitarian operations. In the Gaza Strip, military activity, expanding access-restricted areas and repeated displacement continue to expose civilians to heightened protection risks and deteriorating living conditions despite sustained humanitarian assistance. In the West Bank, expanding movement restrictions, Israeli forces' operations, demolitions, settlement expansion and recurrent settler violence are increasingly driving displacement, restricting access to essential services and livelihoods, and isolating Palestinian communities. Together, these developments are increasing humanitarian needs while making it more difficult for humanitarian partners to reach affected people and sustain assistance across the OPT.

Salam! My name is Nour, and I served on Eyewitness Palestine's (EP) board of directors for three years before now joining full-time on staff. Whilst being on the board, I was also Vice President of Students for Justice in Palestine at University of Connecticut. I currently serve on the steering committee of the Connecticut Palestine Solidarity Coalition as well as on the executive committee of We Will Return, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. I made the move to EP staff because I saw firsthand how vital this organization is for social justice and education on Palestine. Vandaag staan we samen met PAX en Oxfam Novib opnieuw in de rechtbank voor onze rechtszaak over de levering van onderdelen voor F-35-gevechtsvliegtuigen aan Israël.

Met onze rechtszaak dwongen we eerder al af dat Nederland stopte met de rechtstreekse levering van F-35-onderdelen aan Israël. Nu draait de zaak om Nederlandse onderdelen die via de Verenigde Staten alsnog in Israëlische gevechtsvliegtuigen belanden.

'Herkomst onbekend'
Volgens de Nederlandse staat is niet vast te stellen of hier geproduceerde onderdelen daadwerkelijk in Israëlische F-35's terechtkomen, omdat de onderdelen samen met die van andere landen via de Verenigde Staten worden geleverd.

Dat is nauwelijks geloofwaardig. IKEA kan van ieder plugje in een Billy-boekenkast precies aangeven waar het is gemaakt en waar het naartoe gaat. Maar Lockheed Martin en het Amerikaanse ministerie van Defensie zouden dat niet kunnen voor onderdelen van een gevechtsvliegtuig van zo'n 80 miljoen dollar per stuk? Bovendien is voor sommige cruciale onderdelen het Nederlandse GKN Fokker zelfs de enige fabrikant ter wereld.

De kern
Door alle juridische constructies lijkt deze zaak ingewikkeld. Maar de kern is eenvoudig: in iedere Israëlische F-35 die wordt ingezet bij aanvallen op de Palestijnse bevolking zitten onderdelen waarvoor een Nederlands bedrijf onmisbaar is. Dat kan en mag niet langer het geval zijn.

Nederland kan zijn verantwoordelijkheid niet laten verdwijnen achter Amerikaanse magazijnen en juridische rookgordijnen. Nederland mag nooit medeplichtig zijn aan genocide.

Noodoproep | Arts Hussam Abu Safiya verkeert in levensgevaar

De gezondheid van de Palestijnse kinderarts Hussam Abu Safiya gaat snel achteruit. De voormalige directeur van het Kamal Adwan-ziekenhuis in Noord-Gaza zit sinds december 2024 zonder aanklacht of proces gevangen in Israël. Volgens zijn advocaat en de Israëlische mensenrechtenorganisatie Physicians for Human Rights Israel (PHRI) is hij ernstig verzwakt, mishandeld en verkeert hij in levensgevaar. Ook de VN heeft inmiddels opgeroepen tot zijn onmiddellijke vrijlating.

Abu Safiya groeide tijdens de Israëlische aanvallen op Noord-Gaza uit tot het gezicht van de Palestijnse gezondheidszorg. Ondanks de belegering van zijn ziekenhuis en de dood van zijn zoon bleef hij zijn patiënten behandelen. Juist daarom vrezen mensenrechtenorganisaties dat zijn gevangenschap geen op zichzelf staand geval is. PHRI waarschuwt dat Israël Palestijnse artsen het zwijgen wil opleggen om te voorkomen dat zij kunnen getuigen over de verwoesting van de gezondheidszorg in Gaza.

Samen met dertien andere Palestijnse artsen wordt Abu Safiya daarom genoemd in een petitie van PHRI aan het Israëlische Hooggerechtshof, die oproept tot hun onmiddellijke vrijlating. Op onze website leest u meer over de zorgwekkende gezondheidstoestand van Hussam Abu Safiya én over de

Hopen op internationale druk
De Israëlische autoriteiten hebben ​​het Israëlische Hooggerechtshof verzocht om de petitie van PHRI zonder hoorzitting af te wijzen. Meer dan vijftig maatschappelijke organisaties, waaronder The Rights Forum, hebben de Europese Commissie een open brief gestuurd waarin we oproepen om een totaalverbod op handel met de illegale Israëlische nederzettingen in bezet Palestina in te stellen.

Aanstaande maandag, 13 juli, komen de ministers van Buitenlandse Zaken van EU-lidstaten samen in de Raad Buitenlandse Zaken. De Commissie heeft beloofd om in deze vergadering opties te presenteren voor het (gedeeltelijk) verbieden van handel met de illegale nederzettingen op de bezette Westelijke Jordaanoever.

Samenwerking met andere landen
De brief kwam tot stand na intensief contact met partnerorganisaties in andere Europese landen. Die samenwerking richt zich ook op nationale verboden op handel met de nederzettingen. Nederland, België en Ierland bereiden zelf al stappen voor om op nationaal niveau de import van goederen uit nederzettingen te verbieden. Investeringen in nederzettingen, export naar nederzettingen en handel in diensten vallen daar nog niet onder.

Spanje heeft al wel een handelsverbod ingesteld waar ook diensten, zoals kamerverhuur via Booking.com of Airbnb, onder vallen. Door met onze partners samen te werken willen wij bereiken dat deze maatregelen ook in andere landen, én in de EU als geheel, worden ingevoerd.

For 30 years, JVP has been built by committed member-leaders organizing in their local communities, now numbering over 100 chapters in cities, towns, and campuses. Together, these chapters count many thousands of anti-Zionist Jews and allies in over 30 U.S. states, all organizing together towards Palestinian freedom.

As the devastating genocide of Palestinians continues to unfold — enabled, armed, and funded by our government — the tasks ahead of us all are massive. And, there are clear signs that show collective impact is real and possible as we continue the fight: From moving nearly half the Senate to vote to block weapons to Israel, to propelling a sea change in public opinion around Palestine and massively eroding the false cover of Jewish support for genocide.

This is how we as JVP interrupt the U.S.-Israeli war machine: By building a mass base of Jews, developing their leadership, and channeling that people power into campaigns and mobilizations that ultimately win material change.

What does solidarity in action look like? What can Palestinian resistance teach us about life? And how are our struggles for freedom interconnected—from Palestine, to Hawaiʻi, to Turtle Island?

In her new essay for The Palestine Connection, Kanaka Maoli artist, scholar, and organizer Dr. Jamaica Heolimeleikalani Osorio reflects on these questions by unpacking her own experience in Palestine and grappling with her understanding of Palestine, occupation, and the “profound commitment to life.”

This past Tuesday, July 7, marked the anniversary of the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiʻian Kingdom in 1898. Just days before, the U.S. government and millions of Americans commemorated the country’s 250th anniversary. Meanwhile, in Palestine and Lebanon, U.S.-funded bombs continue to drop, murdering families and destroying entire neighborhoods.

These dates are not days for celebration, but for reckoning with the enduring legacy and current manifestations of colonial violence, indigenous erasure, and the interconnectedness of all of our fights for freedom. 

Dr. Osorio’s essay is an intimate account of solidarity in practice and what it means to be bound to another people's struggle, not just in analysis but in action. She reflects on what it means to struggle for Ea—life, breath, and sovereignty—and how bearing witness to occupation in Palestine sharpened her own understanding of home and ʻohana (kin).

In her piece, Dr. Osorio writes about her February 2026 trip to Palestine as part of a delegation of Indigenous and Black organizers with Eyewitness Palestine. In the face of the Israeli state’s violence, Dr. Osorio witnessed the steadfastness of a people who refuse to submit and disappear. Communities in Bethlehem who forced the wall to reroute by refusing to leave their land. Young people in Dheisheh Camp who carry ancestral memory through dance. Families in Hebron who refuse to surrender to settler expansion despite being confined behind locked gates and barriers.

As Dr. Osorio writes, “When freedom is crushed, manipulated, or denied, Ea does not disappear. It adapts. It reorganizes itself. It endures.”

Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israeli Minister of National Security and a leader of the extremist violent settler movement, canceled his planned trip to New York City this week after activists and rights groups called on the New York Attorney General to investigate him for war crimes.

 

For years, Israeli leaders have traveled the world with impunity, despite their widely documented war crimes and egregious violations of international law in their atrocities against Palestinians. Since Israel’s genocide began, however, the tide has started to shift.

 

But even as international isolation increases for individual genocidaires, the world continues to fail Gaza. Their medical system is entering new levels of crisis…

‘Wij, Palestijnen, zijn voor Israëliërs niets meer dan muggen.’

Dat zeiden mijn vrienden Amani en Hatem twee jaar geleden bij een kopje koffie aan hun keukentafel in Ramallah.

‘Ze verdrijven ons of maken ons dood.’

Niet veel later werd bekend dat Israëlische soldaten in de Gazastrook de Palestijnen die ze als menselijk schild gebruikten, ‘muggen’ noemden.

Muggen, vuilnis, ongedierte, untermenschen; het effect van ontmenselijking is levensgevaarlijk.

Daarom schrijf ik jullie vandaag.

Ik ben Eva Ludemann.
Sinds april werk ik als hoofdredacteur bij The Rights Forum.

Twee jaar woonde ik in Gaza, in 1999 en 2000. Daar ging mijn pro-Israëlische overtuiging, het Israëlische narratief waarmee ik was opgegroeid, al snel aan diggelen. Ik zag hoe groot het verschil was tussen het verhaal dat in het Westen wordt verteld en de werkelijkheid ter plaatse.

Tijdens mijn verblijf in Gaza ontmoette ik in 1999 deze Palestijnse jongen in Deir al-Balah, het ‘Huis van de Dadels’. Dit was een prachtig groen dorpje, met rijen hoge palmen bomvol dadels. Nu is er niets meer van over.Sindsdien ben ik vaak teruggekeerd naar Palestina.

Elke keer dacht ik dat de situatie niet verder kon verslechteren.

En elke keer zat ik ernaast.

In 2024 deed ik zeven maanden verslag vanaf de Westelijke Jordaanoever.

Daar zag ik hoe de negentienjarige student Aysar Safi zonder enige reden werd doodgeschoten, hoe kolonisten mensenrechtenactivisten belaagden en hoe Israël het leven van Palestijnen steeds onmogelijker maakt.

Ik werd, met mijn één meter zesenvijftig, zelf door zes zwaarbewapende Israëlische militairen uit het Al-Aqsacomplex gebonjourd. Waarom? Ik kan het jullie niet vertellen. Of toch wel: omdat Israël straffeloos kan doen wat het wil.

Omdat ik van dichtbij heb gezien hoe Palestijnen hun meest fundamentele rechten worden ontnomen, ben ik hoofdredacteur geworden bij The Rights Forum.

Wij doen onderzoek, volgen de politiek, onderhouden contact met Palestijnen ter plaatse en brengen feiten boven tafel die anders onderbelicht blijven. Zo blijven we inzoomen op wat zichtbaar moet worden gemaakt.

Twee jaar geleden ontmoette ik Fakhri Abu Diab in Silwan, Oost-Jeruzalem. Op 14 februari 2024 werd zijn huis verwoest door Israëlische bulldozers. Israël wil hier een bijbels park aanleggen; 1.500 Palestijnse bewoners moeten daarvoor wijken.Waar nodig zetten wij het recht in. Zo deden we aangifte tegen Gidi Markuszower, die opriep om Palestijnse vluchtelingen met “maximaal geweld” tegen te houden.

Highlights

• In just two weeks, over 9,000 cases of chickenpox were reported across 130 health facilities in Gaza, half of them in Khan Younis.
• Although only 85 per cent of the solid waste generated in Gaza is collected, combined with pest control, the overall health and environmental risks from unmanaged waste and pest infestation have not increased.
• A shortage of sodium bicarbonate, due to chronic underfunding, at the Al Shifa Hospital is said to be severely affecting haemodialysis services, reducing treatment capacity for about 240 patients with end-stage kidney disease.
• A new humanitarian assessment in two Palestinian communities in the West Bank found that the establishment of nearby settlement outposts has been accompanied by repeated settler attacks, mounting insecurity and deteriorating access to essential services.
• More than 2,300 Palestinians have been displaced across the West Bank in 2026 due to settler attacks and related access restrictions.
• Demolitions in East Jerusalem neighbourhoods on the ‘West Bank’ side of the Barrier now account for 37 per cent of all lack-of-permit demolitions in East Jerusalem, nearly double the average recorded over the previous six years.

Overview

Across the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT), Palestinians are being confined to ever-smaller spaces where they can live, move, access essential services, and sustain their livelihoods. In the Gaza Strip, new displacement is being driven by the expansion of military-imposed access-restricted areas – occasionally marked by yellow cement blocks – or by airstrikes or shelling that, over the past week alone, ignited fires that consumed hundreds of tents. In the West Bank, displacement is increasingly linked to recurrent Israeli settler attacks and the establishment of new settlement outposts, alongside home demolitions, which undermine access to land, livelihoods, and basic services. Across both contexts, repeated displacement is eroding household resilience, deepening humanitarian needs, and increasing dependence on humanitarian assistance.

The Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) welcomes reports that Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has canceled his planned visit to New York following HRF and the Center for Constitutional Rights' legal action and sustained grassroots pressure led by the Palestinian Youth Movement and others.

 

According to multiple media reports, Ben-Gvir's decision followed HRF’s complaint to the U.S. Department of Justice, and HRF and the Center for Constitutional Rights’ joint letter urging New York Attorney General Letitia James to investigate Ben-Gvir's alleged violations of New York law and atrocity crimes affecting New York residents.

A Significant and Concrete Victory

For decades, Israeli political and military leaders have traveled the world expecting impunity. That expectation is beginning to erode. When a senior Israeli minister cancels an international trip because of the prospect of legal scrutiny, it demonstrates that accountability is no longer theoretical—it carries real-world consequences.

 

But this is not the end.

 

Ben-Gvir's decision to avoid New York does not diminish New York Attorney General James's responsibility to meet with New York residents who are victims of the crimes described in our submission and to thoroughly investigate the allegations presented.

 

Accountability cannot depend on whether a suspect chooses to enter the state’s jurisdiction. Investigations must begin before arrival so authorities are prepared to act when the opportunity arises.

 

More broadly, this case has never been about one individual alone. Accountability must extend to all those responsible for atrocity crimes, including those who committed them and those who enabled them.

 

HRF and the Center for Constitutional Rights continue to call on Attorney General Letitia James to establish an Atrocity Crimes Accountability Task Force to investigate atrocity crimes committed by or against New York residents in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

 

The cancellation of this visit is an important milestone—but it is only one step in a much larger campaign.

 

This victory deserves recognition. But our work continues.

Accountability in Action: Recent HRF Legal Actions

Lithuania: Challenging Impunity Before the Constitutional Court

HRF filed a constitutional complaint before Lithuania's Constitutional Court on 29 June 2026, after prosecutors refused to investigate Israeli soldier Sean Gor, who is currently residing as a dentistry student in Lithuania.

 

The case challenges Lithuania's restrictive interpretation of universal jurisdiction and argues that the state cannot refuse to investigate credible allegations of genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity simply because they were committed abroad.

Italy: Criminal Complaint Against Israeli Combat Engineer

On 2 July 2026, HRF filed a criminal complaint in Rome against Israeli soldier Arik Ben Asulin of the 749th Combat Engineering Battalion, alleging his participation in war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide in Gaza.

The complaint details his alleged role in the destruction of Al-Azhar University and residential neighborhoods in Shuja'iya and the Netzarim Corridor, and calls on Italian prosecutors to investigate under the principle of universal jurisdiction.

Why This Matters

Every legal filing erodes impunity. Every investigation expands accountability. Every canceled trip demonstrates that international crimes now carry consequences long before the first day in court.

The Hind Rajab Foundation will continue pursuing offensive legal action wherever international and domestic law provide avenues for justice.

Gisteren debatteerde en stemde de Tweede Kamer over de medische capaciteit in Gaza en de regio. Tijdens het debat werd een aantal goede stappen gezet. Zo is het positief dat de Kamer een reeks moties aannam die het kabinet oproepen meer te doen voor de medische zorg aan Palestijnen uit Gaza.

De Kamer sprak zich uit voor een medische corridor naar ziekenhuizen op de Westelijke Jordaanoever, financiering van medische behandelingen en mentale zorg voor geëvacueerden in de regio, versterking van de medische capaciteit in Palestina en de regio, en voortzetting van de steun aan centra voor kinderen die zorg, onderwijs en psychosociale hulp bieden.

Ook kondigde minister Sjoerdsma aan dat wordt gewerkt aan een programma van de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie voor de medische evacuatie van mogelijk 1.000 tot 2.000 kinderen. Dat is een belangrijke en hoopgevende stap.

Evacuaties blijven uit
Tegelijkertijd blijft de Kamer tekortschieten op punten waar onmiddellijke actie nodig is. Een motie om ernstig zieke en gewonde kinderen naar Nederland te evacueren wanneer passende zorg in Gaza of de regio ontbreekt, werd verworpen. Daarnaast stelde minister Sjoerdsma een besluit over Nederlandse medische evacuaties uit tot september. Dat is teleurstellend, want voor kinderen die dringend medische zorg nodig hebben, kan uitstel levensbedreigend zijn.

Geen sancties tegen Israël
De meest schrijnende uitkomst van het debat is dat moties voor sancties tegen Israël werden verworpen, ondanks de voortdurende blokkade van voldoende humanitaire hulp en de gebrekkige medewerking aan medische evacuaties.

Daarmee blijft een belangrijk probleem ongemoeid. De medische crisis in Gaza is geen natuurramp. Zij is het gevolg van oorlog, vernietiging van infrastructuur, blokkade en politieke keuzes. Zolang Israël onvoldoende humanitaire hulp toelaat en medische evacuaties belemmert, moet Nederland niet alleen pleiten voor meer zorg, maar ook druk uitoefenen op de partij die die zorg onmogelijk maakt. Humanitaire hulp zonder politieke consequenties voor de blokkade blijft dweilen met de kraan open.

Nieuwe stap | Onze rechtszaak tegen de staat: stop levering F-35-onderdelen aan Israël via de VS

Op vrijdag 10 juli doen The Rights Forum, Oxfam Novib en Pax een nieuwe poging om de levering van F-35-onderdelen aan Israël te stoppen. Het gaat niet om een nieuwe rechtszaak, maar om een voortzetting van de rechtszaak die al liep.

Hoe zit dat?
De rechtszaak die The Rights Forum, Oxfam Novib en Pax aanspanden om de Nederlandse staat te dwingen de levering van onderdelen van gevechtsvliegtuig F-35 te staken, begon in november 2023. Het resultaat daarvan was dat de regering vorig jaar besloot leveringen aan Israël te stoppen.

Maar dat ging alleen om directe leveringen vanuit Nederland aan Israël. Volgens de staat is bij die indirecte leveringen van, simpel gezegd, moertjes, boutjes, nippeltjes en schroefjes, niet te traceren of die in Israël terecht komen, of in andere landen met F-35-gevechtsvliegtuigen.

Wij geloven niet dat het zo ingewikkeld is als de staat het voorstelt. Daar komt bij dat het Nederlandse bedrijf Fokker de enige leverancier is van bepaalde onderdelen die in alle vliegtuigen geïnstalleerd worden. Hierdoor is het dus 100% zeker dat Nederlandse onderdelen in Israël terechtkomen. Dat staat in het vervolg van de rechtszaak ter discussie.

Defensienota | Blijft Nederland Israëlische wapens kopen?

Hoewel Nederland niet langer direct wapens verkoopt aan Israël, koopt het nog wel veel wapens en wapensystemen van het land, onder andere van het bedrijf Elbit. Dat is de belangrijkste leverancier van wapens waarmee de genocide wordt uitgevoerd en de illegale bezetting in stand wordt gehouden. Met de enorme bedragen die Israël daarmee verdient, worden de genocide en de illegale bezetting medegefinancierd.

Afgelopen maandag presenteerden minister van Defensie Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius (VVD), staatssecretaris Derk Boswijk en Commandant der Strijdkrachten Onno Eichelsheim de Defensienota 2026. Daarin worden de grote lijnen van het defensiebeleid voor de komende jaren geschetst. Een cruciaal element van de nieuwe Defensienota is dat het ministerie van Defensie minder afhankelijk wil worden van landen buiten Europa.

Dat roept, gezien de F-35-zaak en de aanschaf van Israëlische wapens, belangrijke vragen op over de militaire samenwerking met Israël. The Rights Forum was daarom aanwezig bij de presentatie van de Defensienota en stelde staatssecretaris van Defensie Derk Boswijk (CDA) enkele vragen.

Stop de EU-medeplichtigheid aan Israëlische oorlogsmisdaden, steun het Europees burgerinitiatief.

Begin dit jaar lanceerde Justice for Palestine een Europees burgerinitiatief met een glasheldere eis: schort het EU-Israël Associatieakkoord op zolang Israël mensenrechten en internationaal recht blijft schenden. Dit akkoord vormt de ruggengraat van de nauwe Europese samenwerking met Israël, die nu doorgaat alsof er niks aan de hand is.

Het initiatief heeft de kritische drempel van één miljoen handtekeningen uit alle 27 EU-lidstaten inmiddels overschreden en is daarmee een van de snelst groeiende burgerinitiatieven in de geschiedenis van de EU. Maar hoe meer mensen tekenen, hoe moeilijker het wordt voor Europese lijders om weg te kijken.

Zodra de handtekeningen geverifieerd zijn, moet de Europese Commissie reageren. De organisatoren krijgen een rechtstreeks gesprek met de Commissie en er volgt een hoorzitting in het Europees Parlement. De Commissie zal dus publiekelijke verantwoording moeten afleggen.

Reportage | Israëlische Klimfederatie maakt zich schuldig aan schendingen internationaal recht

De Internationale Klimbond stemt op 23 juli over een schorsing van de Israëlische Klimfederatie (ICLA). Door het promoten van gebruik van de bezette gebieden door Joodse Israëliërs en door het openen en uitrusten van klimgebieden daar, handelt de Israëlische Klimfederatie in strijd met de Geneefse Conventies.

Bovendien zijn het personeel en de atleten van ICLA vaak actieve leden of reservisten in het Israëlische leger dat in de Gazastrook een genocide begaat. Ook helpt de ICLA mee bij de training van de Joods-Israëlische jongeren voor toelating tot dat leger.

Klimmen op de Westoever
In aanloop naar de stemming sprak The Rights Forum met twee Palestijnse klimmers over de Israëlische restricties die het beoefenen van hun sport nagenoeg onmogelijk maken.

Eén van hen is Hiba Shaheen, voorzitter van de Palestijnse Klimbond. ‘Vóór "zeven oktober" gingen we elke vrijdag klimmen’, zegt ze. ‘Klimmen was voor ons een manier om even aan de bezetting te kunnen ontsnappen. Nu is dat vrijwel onmogelijk geworden. Israël heeft onze dorpen en steden afgesloten. Het Israëlische bezettingsleger heeft zo’n duizend blokkades voor ons opgetrokken. En als we al door de Israëlische checkpoints komen, lopen we het risico te worden beschoten. Door Israëlische militairen of door kolonisten, die hebben van hun regering tal van wapens gekregen.’

Oproep | Daily Reading Vigil for Palestine

Sinds november 2023 staan er tussen 12.30 en 13.30 uur elke dag drie mensen op de Dam in Amsterdam. Uitgerust met een Palestijnse vlag en een kleed op de grond met de tekst 'Free Palestine', lezen ze boeken van Palestijnse schrijvers of over Palestina.

Deze week zijn ze begonnen met het honderdste boek, The Hundred years war on Palestine van Rashid Khalidi. Het is het boek waar ze in november 2023 hun actie mee zijn begonnen.

Het is de organisatoren nu toe gelukt om er steeds weer met drie personen te staan, maar het wordt steeds moeilijker om vrijwilligers te vinden. Ze kunnen nieuwe lezers daarom goed gebruiken. Als mensen belangstelling hebben om mee te doen, kunnen ze het best een keer langskomen om kennis te maken.

De Israëlische beurs steeg tijdens de genocide naar recordhoogte – dankzij Nederland

Terwijl Israël de Gazastrook volledig verwoestte, steeg de Israëlische effectenbeurs naar recordhoogte. Een nieuw rapport van onderzoeksinstituut SOMO laat zien dat deze gegevens niet los van elkaar staan, en welke rol Nederland daarin speelt.

Israël vernietigde Europese projecten ter waarde van minstens 150 miljoen euro

De Europese belastingbetaler heeft tot op heden geen compensatie ontvangen voor de schade die Israël heeft toegebracht aan door de EU gefinancierde projecten in de bezette Palestijnse gebieden. Nederland noemt die verliezen ‘vertrouwelijk’.

For years, AIPAC has punished any Democrat who steps out of line on Israel. They flood Democratic primaries with Republican cash and call it democracy.

For years, it worked.

That was then. Now AIPAC's donors are funnelling money to attack anti-genocide candidates without using AIPAC's name — and JVP Action just notched our 11th electoral win of the cycle.

AIPAC is hiding

In 2024, AIPAC bragged about endorsing over 300 candidates and spent over $100 million trying to kick pro-Palestine electeds out of office.

Two years later, AIPAC is still flooding key races with cash, but they aren’t bragging anymore: In Illinois, they funneled millions of dollars through “shadow” PACs with progressive branding like “Elect Chicago Women”.

When millions flooded into Denver, Colorado to defeat JVP Action-endorsed Melat Kiros and her pro-Palestine campaign. Much of it came through shadow PACs with funds from AIPAC and others. Kiros went on to win by over 12 points, and is heading to Congress.

And in New York, the trail was even more convoluted: to attack another JVP Action-endorsed candidate, Darializa Avila Chevalier, while hiding their identity, AIPAC’s super PAC, the United Democracy Project, routed $650,000 to Avila Chevalier’s opponent through an intermediary PAC, BOLD America, affiliated with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus — a blatant attempt to reputation launder. Their efforts failed, and Darializa is heading to Congress.

In the races when AIPAC does win, it is often because they run ads that have nothing to do with Israel. After the race is over, they come out of the woodwork to proclaim a victory for support for Israel.

For years, AIPAC enjoyed bipartisan support in Congress for the lie that Israel was a democratic ally deserving of support.

 

That was then. Now, Israel’s genocide and apartheid have been broadcast live to the world. For the last two and a half years, our movements have been in the streets disrupting business as usual — and propelling a sea change in public opinion around Palestine.

AIPAC might have hundreds of millions at their disposal, but they are scared. Our movement did that.

JVP Action has spent thirty years building over a hundred local formations across the country, that have made clear to the world: American Jews will stand against a genocide perpetrated in our name.

Now, JVP Action is building a grassroots electoral operation that has made supporting Palestinian rights not just morally right, but politically viable. We've shown pro-Palestine candidates they can win — and shown our opponents they will lose. This week, we notched our 11th electoral victory of the cycle, and we’re not even finished with midterms.

We are part of a growing movement that has fundamentally shifted what's possible in American politics on Palestine.

And we're just getting started.

Here's the thing about AIPAC going underground: It doesn't mean they're weaker. It means they've adapted. Their money is still there. Their candidates are still there. They're just laundering the brand.

So are we going to let them?

We can't match them dollar for dollar. What we can do — what we have done — is outwork them, out-organize them, and make their money less effective by building real power in real communities.

JVP Action is endorsing Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate in Michigan, a battleground that helps decide who wins the White House; and Cori Bush for Congress in Missouri, after AIPAC bought her seat in 2024. Each day, as we witness the events unfolding across Palestine, Iran, Lebanon, Sudan, and here in the United States, we are confronted with questions about the future of our world and the legacy of our past.

How are these struggles connected? Where is the world headed? And what can we actually do about it?

These questions are especially resonant as the United States marks its 250th anniversary this month and we reckon with the devastating impacts of U.S. empire and militarism. Those of us living in the belly of the beast have a particular responsibility to understand the forces shaping our world, and the role we can play in challenging them.

This summer, from July 19-August 30, we're partnering with Comrades Education and Palestinian Youth Movement on a seven-week course, Palestine & a Changing World Order: Resisting Zionism, Genocide & the Billionaire Class, to help answer these questions.

Together, we will meet each Sunday at 4-6:30 pm ET/1-3:30 pm PT (with one week off) to make sense of this political moment and explore the forces reshaping our world and the movements rising to challenge them.

Across the six interactive sessions, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the political forces driving today's crises while developing practical tools for organizing, movement building, and collective action. We'll examine Palestine's central place in a rapidly changing global order and the intersections of empire, militarism, surveillance, and billionaire greed.

The course features organizers, educators, and movement leaders with firsthand experience and deep political analysis, including AJP co-executive director Izzy Mustafa, organizers from Palestinian Youth Movement, Iranian anti-war advocate Joubin Khazaie, Sudanese organizer Suad Abdel Aziz, and other guest speakers.

• Interviews with long-time organizers and issue experts
• Participant Q&A
• Small-group discussions
• Curated study materials
• Opportunities to connect political education with organizing strategies that can be applied in our communities

Last night, in Colorado's First District, AIPAC lost.

In the final weeks, corporate dark money flooded the race to stop Melat — much of it from AIPAC, Amazon, and Lockheed Martin — in a last-ditch attempt to stop Melat. And they smeared Melat as antisemitic for refusing to stay silent about Israel's genocide.
