Mattan here. In 2017, I spent 110 days in a military prison for refusing to join the Israeli occupation forces. While headlines are dominated by the ceasefire agreement with Iran, potentially putting a pause to the U.S.-Israeli assault that has killed thousands across the region, a different kind of violence is accelerating in the shadows, largely unseen, and almost entirely unchecked.
In the West Bank, Palestinian communities are facing a sharp escalation of attacks: families targeted, homes burned, entire villages living under daily threat.
This is not happening despite the headlines, it is happening because of them, under the cover of war. At Refuser Solidarity Network, we are actively supporting and funding activists who are working to resist those responsible for this violence: the ultra-right government.
Support War Resistance
In recent days, Israeli soldiers killed a Palestinian family in the northern West Bank while they were driving in their car. No investigation. No accountability. Just another world erased without consequence.
At the same time, settler violence is escalating. Armed groups are carrying out near-daily rampages in Palestinian villages: burning homes, injuring dozens, shooting at families.
There have even been documented cases of sexual violence. This is not random. It is part of a broader pattern: using violence to push Palestinians off their land in coordination with the state under the cover of war and a state of emergency.
This is what annexation looks like in practice. And it is happening precisely when public attention is elsewhere.
Support War Resistance
But there are Israelis who refuse to accept this and are organizing, documenting, intervening, and putting their bodies on the line to resist settler violence and dispossession. Others are exposing these crimes in activist displays, blocking government offices, and forcing the wider public to confront this reality.
With every time violence is documented and activists intervene, every act of solidarity, it becomes harder to deny what is happening. Harder to continue down the path of permanent occupation and endless war without reckoning with the price paid.

Just hours after a ceasefire agreement was accepted by Iran and the United States, Israel launched one of its largest waves of attacks on Lebanon.
More than 250 Lebanese civilians have been killed since this morning alone, and over one million have been displaced.
The only path to ending this destruction is by ending U.S. support for the genocidal Israeli state. Write your Representatives in Congress now and tell them to stop weapons to Israel.
In Beirut, airstrikes tore through densely populated neighborhoods and critical infrastructure. Entire blocks have been reduced to rubble. Hospitals already stretched beyond capacity are now flooded with wounded. People are being pulled from debris with bare hands.
In southern Lebanon, the invasion deepens with Israeli troops on the ground. The villages of Naqoura and Taybeh have been destroyed by Israeli bombardments.
Airstrikes and ground incursions are pushing into towns and villages, emptying entire communities under threat of death. The conditions for life are being systematically destroyed. And last night, just hours after the ceasefire agreement was reached, Israeli strikes killed Lebanese medics in Saida. Heroes who ran towards the aftermath of Israel’s violence to save lives had their own lives ripped away.
The stories and images coming out of Lebanon echo the same stories and images that continue to haunt us from Gaza. This is not a breakdown of a ceasefire. As we witnessed time and again in Gaza, this is what a ceasefire means under impunity.
Write Congress: Block the Bombs to Israel
We are living in a moment where a U.S. president can publicly threaten genocide, that “a whole civilization will die,” and it is absorbed into the news cycle as just another statement.
While disturbing, this comes as no surprise to those who have been paying attention over the past two and a half years.
Our world leaders, liberals and conservatives alike, have normalized this level of violence in their refusal to stop Israel’s genocidal attacks on Palestinian life. Entire populations can be devastated, ceasefires can be broken within hours, and medics and journalists can be systematically targeted—with no real consequences or accountability.
They have set a new precedent of what is permissible, without a redline in sight. This should terrify us all.
Without fail, in Palestine and Lebanon, Israel has shown us that it will not abide or be limited by “peace” agreements. Israel’s decision to escalate while the world watches and calls for restraint makes clear that a cornered and increasingly isolated Israel is at its most dangerous. It will continue to wreak havoc across the region and beyond in pursuit of its own genocidal expansionist ambitions if allowed to.
And still, the world speaks in half measures. The question is not whether this will continue, because it will. The question is whether anyone will force it to stop.
Tell Congress: Stop Weapons, Stop War
Israeli war crimes are backed by the full weight of U.S. political, military, and financial pillars. Without it, this level of sustained destruction is not possible. Unchecked Israeli violence is unfolding with the backing of decisions made here.
As long as U.S. support for Israel continues, there will be no meaningful incentive to uphold ceasefires, pursue de-escalation, or end the war.
We have won the public. Poll after poll show that the number of Americans who support Palestinian freedom is growing. A Pew Research poll released yesterday found that majorities of adults under the age of 50 in both political parties now rate Israel negatively.
We must turn public sentiment in favor of Palestinians and anger at Israel into political power.
Our lawmakers are feeling more pressure than ever to cut ties with the genocidal Israeli regime as it continues to drag the U.S. into another endless war—one that has devastating human and economic costs in the region and at home.
We must keep the pressure up, and let them know that we will not tolerate our tax dollars going to murdering families. We must make it clear that they are on notice, and what they do now will impact them in the fall.

Israel’s escalations in Lebanon further expose its pattern of impunity
American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) unequivocally condemns Israel’s horrific attacks on Lebanon. These attacks, even as a ceasefire with Iran was being announced, are a grotesque reminder of the impunity it has been granted for years. Within hours of the truce, Israel launched major strikes on Beirut and other parts of Lebanon, killing and wounding hundreds, despite public claims from mediators that the ceasefire was meant to halt attacks “everywhere, including Lebanon.” Israel, as always, rushed to cast itself as the aggrieved party while making clear it had no intention of honoring the basic premise of de-escalation. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu explicitly said the ceasefire did not apply to Lebanon, even as Hezbollah had reportedly paused attacks under the truce.
This is exactly what happens when the United States and other world leaders spend years giving Israel free rein to slaughter, starve, and destroy civilians en masse with no real accountability. After more than two and a half years of devastation in Gaza, and after repeated findings and warnings from major human rights bodies and UN experts describing genocide, extermination, and acts of genocide, Israel has only grown more emboldened. It has learned that it can bomb, besiege, violate ceasefires, and then hide behind the language of “self-defense” while the world scrambles to excuse its actions.
Iran’s ceasefire proposal, as publicly reported, called for an end to attacks on Iran and its allies. Yet Israel responded the way it so often does: by insisting on special exemption for its own violence. That is the pattern. Israel demands quiet from everyone else while reserving for itself the right to keep bombing, keep killing, and keep escalating. It claims victimhood in every forum, but when it comes time to uphold a ceasefire, it is Palestinians, Lebanese civilians, and the wider region who are forced to pay the price for Israel’s refusal to keep its word.
Israel’s actions are a political choice, enabled by governments, mainly the U.S., that have refused to impose tangible consequences on Israel for years. Every new strike on Lebanon, every shattered ceasefire, and every massacre carried out under the cover of diplomacy is the result of that failure. There can be no serious talk of peace while Israel is allowed to bomb its neighbors at will, violate agreements without consequence, and continue a campaign of annihilation in Gaza under the protection of the very governments now claiming to want calm.

The latest Israeli Law on the Death Penalty for Palestinian Political Prisoners (2026) does not exist in isolation.
It rather codifies an execution mechanism as part of the broader system of extreme colonial violence against Palestinians. Nearly 100 Palestinian political prisoners have been killed by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) since October 2023, in a detention system extensively documented for torture, medical neglect, and summary abuse.

The Trump Administration Must Immediately Rescind War Crime Threats and De-escalate Toward Diplomacy
[WASHINGTON D.C., APRIL 07, 2026] — Americans for Justice in Palestine Action (AJP Action) condemns President Donald Trump’s explicit threats to destroy Iran’s civilian infrastructure and annihilate its population ahead of an imposed deadline. His statement that “a whole civilization will die tonight” is a genocidal threat and a clear endorsement of war crimes under international law.
Trump’s threats to target civilian infrastructure, including power grids, transportation systems, and other essential services, constitute collective punishment. Under the Geneva Conventions, the deliberate targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure is illegal. These statements signal intent to carry out actions that would devastate millions of innocent people and destabilize the entire region.
“The President of the United States is openly flaunting war crimes in the most direct way we’ve ever seen,” said Dr. Osama Abu Irshaid. “This is not leadership. This is a direct violation of international law, and a dangerous signal that civilian lives are expendable.”
AJP Action calls on the Trump administration to immediately rescind these threats and halt any plans that would target civilians or civilian infrastructure. The United States must end this war, engage in diplomacy, de-escalate tensions, and uphold its obligations under international law.
This war is already unlawful, and irreparable damage has already been done. The United States cannot continue down this path of endless war, threats, and destruction. The consequences are already unfolding, devastating civilians in Iran and eroding the United States’ standing and credibility across the world.

Burin Village: Growing life in the midst of darkness
Just south of Nablus in the northern West Bank, the village of Burin is home to a few thousand residents, many of them refugees. Like many Palestinian communities it’s a place where daily life revolves around the land, especially olive trees, which are a main source of income. Families have worked these groves for generations, but in recent years, access to farmland has been cut off as surrounding areas have been taken over by nearby settlements and military zones.
Burin is suffocated by the Israeli settlements of Yitzhar and Bracha, along with smaller outposts, and is often subjected to settler violence. Residents regularly face attacks targeting homes, farmland, and schools. Olive trees are damaged or destroyed, and harvests are lost, causing financial, ecological, and emotional damage.
Getting in and out of the village isn’t always straightforward either. The road to nearby towns like Nablus and Huwwara can be blocked at short notice, making it harder for people to get to work, school, or medical care. Farmers sometimes have to ask for permission from the IOF in advance just to reach their land, and even then, access isn’t guaranteed. Especially during the olive harvest, when attacks escalate, everyday life can feel uncertain -- but people in Burin continue to adapt and resist by insisting on life.

Right now, we are witnessing an alarming rise in anti-Palestinian racism and Islamophobia across the country.
Last Friday, news broke of a foiled assassination plot against Palestinian New Yorker and organizer Nerdeen Kiswani carried out by a member of the JDL 613 Brotherhood, a local group modeled off of the Jewish Defense League. We are so grateful that Nerdeen and her family are safe. Yet, the conditions that put her life in danger are still a threat to us all.
The harrowing plot on Nerdeen’s life is the product of years of attacks by anti-Palestinian Zionist institutions on her and other advocates for Palestinian freedom. And it is a direct outcome of the normalization of these attacks on Palestinian life by our institutions, lawmakers, and the media.
Their complicity has allowed this violence to proliferate in the U.S., and in Palestine and across the region.
In Gaza, Palestinians are still being bombed every day. While global attention turned away after the announcement of a so-called ceasefire last October, Israel has since killed at least 700 people in Gaza. Entire families are living under constant threat, sheltering in makeshift conditions as airstrikes continue.
In the West Bank, Jewish settlers are carrying out daily pogroms, targeting entire villages, burning homes and cars, and attacking Palestinians with impunity. The Israeli military has escalated its killings.
Just last week, a family from Tamoun was gunned down by undercover Israeli forces while driving home from a shopping trip. Four members of the family were murdered, including two children.
The growing violence against Palestinians is not just happening on the streets, it is being further codified. On Monday, the Israeli Knesset passed a measure advancing the use of the death penalty against Palestinian prisoners. The policy has been championed by Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s Minister of National Security, whose politics have been shaped by the Jewish Defense League—the same organization that spawned the attacker plotting to kill Nerdeen in New York.
Israel is using the same Gaza ethnic cleansing playbook in its current expansion into Lebanon, where it has killed more than 1,300 people and displaced over one million. Just this week, reporting revealed that Israeli military officials have been urging Christian and Druze communities in South Lebanon to force out Shiite Muslim neighbors who are seeking refuge among them as Israel intensifies its attacks on Shiite-majority towns.
Alongside the joint U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran, Israel’s violence in Lebanon is part of the same trajectory of violence that has murdered, imprisoned, and expelled hundreds of thousands of Palestinians for decades. It is sustained by anti-Palestinian racism and Islamophobia that devalues Palestinian and Muslim life and makes this level of violence possible.
In order to understand this moment, we must understand that the same systems that enable violence abroad are reinforced by silence, distortion, and violence at home. Without this reinforcement, they are unsustainable.
It is our duty to disrupt this cycle.
We must call out and root out anti-Palestinian racism and Islamophobia, in our families, in our workplaces, and in our organizing spaces. This is a basic requirement to keep each other safe and resist the machinery that enables and normalizes this destruction.
We must also take action to hold our lawmakers to account.
When Congress returns from recess on April 13, the Senate is expected to vote on Joint Resolutions of Disapproval (JRDs) to block certain weapons transfers to Israel.
This is a critical opportunity to apply pressure and make it clear to our lawmakers where we stand ahead of the midterm elections. We must demand our representatives take a stand against this cycle of violence and dehumanization.
We will not allow the violence to go unchallenged or complicity unchecked. Thank you for your clarity, courage, and action.

Highlights
- Aid workers continue providing supplies and services in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, but restrictions remain and needs often outpace available resources.
- In Gaza, cooking gas shortages undermine the operation of community kitchens and force nearly one in two families to use unsafe waste burning for cooking.
- UNICEF supported the reunification of 11 toddlers with their families in Gaza after they were medically evacuated as babies – some while still in incubators – in November 2023.
- In the West Bank, two in every three Palestinian fatalities so far in 2026 occurred since the regional escalation of 28 February.
- In March, over 200 settler attacks have resulted in casualties or property damage across more than 100 communities – about six attacks per day; six Palestinians were killed by settlers – the second-highest monthly toll since 2005.
- Displacement in East Jerusalem continues, with demolitions displacing 18 Palestinians in Silwan and many more families remaining at imminent risk.
Overview
Across the Occupied Palestinian Territory, increased levels of violence, recently tightened restrictions, and weather events, continue driving people’s reliance on humanitarian support while limiting what aid workers can deliver.
In Gaza, this is marked by continued strikes, reportedly causing civilian casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, and major access and supply constraints, including those linked to the regional escalation. Most recently, damage to the electricity line serving desalination in the south sharply reduced the availability of drinking water for an estimated 500,000 people. Meanwhile, cooking gas shortages undermine what community kitchens can serve and force nearly half the population to rely on unsafe waste burning to cook.
In the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, following a slowdown in demolitions during Ramadan, demolition-driven displacement is increasing again, with the highest numbers recorded in the Al Bustan area of East Jerusalem – where the destruction of homes is linked to a settlement expansion plan. Attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians remain on the rise, resulting in casualties, damage and displacement, while Israeli forces have fatally shot more people.

De afgelopen week stond opnieuw in het teken van de Nederlandse financiering van UNRWA, de VN-organisatie voor Palestijnse vluchtelingen. Het debat daarover in de Tweede Kamer maakt duidelijk hoe humanitaire hulp, zeker aan de Palestijnse bevolking, een moeilijk punt is voor de Nederlandse politiek. Tegelijk waren de ontwikkelingen van deze week ook aanleiding tot voorzichtig optimisme.
Extra middelen voor UNRWA
Een meerderheid van de Tweede Kamer blijkt bereid extra middelen vrij te maken voor UNRWA. In een tijd waarin de humanitaire situatie in Gaza en de bredere regio dramatisch is, is effectieve en grootschalige hulpverlening onmisbaar. UNRWA speelt daarin al meer dan 75 jaar een centrale rol.
Het kabinetsbesluit om de Nederlandse bijdrage weer te verhogen naar 19 miljoen euro is dan ook een belangrijke en noodzakelijke stap. Daarmee geeft het kabinet concrete invulling aan de in het regeerakkoord aangekondigde herstel van de relatie met UNRWA.

Tegelijkertijd blijft het teleurstellend dat er geen Kamermeerderheid is gevonden om de eerdere bezuinigingen op ontwikkelingssamenwerking volledig terug te draaien. Die bezuinigingen hebben de Nederlandse inzet voor internationale solidariteit en mensenrechten aanzienlijk verzwakt.
Stevig debat
De manier waarop dit besluit tot stand kwam, leidde tot forse discussie en kritiek in de Kamer. Aan de linkerzijde was er grote frustratie over het uitblijven van steun van D66 om de onder het kabinet-Schoof doorgevoerde bezuinigingen op ontwikkelingshulp volledig terug te draaien. Aan de rechterzijde was er verontwaardiging over het feit dat D66 minister Sjoerdsma alsnog overging tot het herstellen van de bijdrage aan UNRWA, conform het regeerakkoord. Het onderstreept hoe politiek complex dit onderwerp in de huidige politiek situatie is geworden.
Eerste stap
Met het besluit om de bijdrage aan UNRWA te herstellen zet het kabinet een stap in de goede richting. Maar het is een beperkte stap. Het is nu zaak die lijn consequent door te trekken. Bijvoorbeeld door Palestina te erkennen, substantiële aantallen medische evacuatie van ernstig zieke Palestijnen toe te staan, militaire en academische samenwerking met Israël te beëindigen en alle economische relaties met Israël te verbreken.
Cyberveiligheid | Israëlische chantage dwingt Slovenië af te zien van steun aan genocidezaak tegen Israël
Op het laatste moment heeft de Sloveense regering afgezien van een zogeheten ‘verklaring van interventie’ in de genocidezaak van Zuid-Afrika tegen Israël bij het Internationaal Gerechtshof in Den Haag. Dat gebeurde op grond van een dringend advies van Sloveense veiligheidsfunctionarissen.
Die waarschuwden namelijk dat 'deelname aan de rechtszaak de nationale veiligheid van Slovenië in gevaar kan brengen, waarbij ze erop wezen dat veel van de cyberverdedigingssystemen van het land van Israëlische makelij zijn,' aldus Euronews.
De ‘veiligheidsrisico’s’ die hiermee gepaard gaan, zijn dermate concreet dat Slovenië zich gedwongen ziet zijn beleid aan te passen. Israël chanteert daarmee een Europese lidstaat om genocide op de Palestijnen ongemoeid te laten.
Israëlische inmenging in verkiezingen
Eind maart bleek ook dat een Israëlisch spionagebedrijf betrokken is geweest bij een lastercampagne ten bate van de rechts-populistische premierskandidaat Janez Janša. Hij nam het in de Sloveense verkiezingen op tegen de zittende links-liberale premier Robert Golob.

Apartheid | Parlement Israël stemt vóór doodstraf voor Palestijnen, Nederland neemt geen maatregelen
Het Israëlische parlement, de Knesset, heeft deze week een wet aangenomen die de doodstraf mogelijk maakt voor mensen die veroordeeld zijn voor moord met een ‘terroristisch’ motief. In de praktijk kunnen alleen Palestijnen op de Westoever deze ultieme straf door militaire rechtbanken krijgen opgelegd. Zo versterkt de wet het apartheidsregime in Israël.
Toch is er nog enige hoop dat mensenrechtenorganisaties de invoering van de wet nog kunnen tegenhouden. Meteen nadat het wetsvoorstel was aangenomen, liet de Vereniging voor Burgerrechten in Israël weten dat ze al een verzoekschrift had ingediend bij het Hooggerechtshof om de wet aan te vechten.

Minister Tom Berendsen van Buitenlandse Zaken (CDA) liet via X weten dat Nederland zich heeft aangesloten bij een verklaring van Australië, Duitsland, Frankrijk, Italië en Groot-Brittannië. De ministers van Buitenlandse Zaken van deze landen vragen Israël om de wet in te trekken.
Maar, zo blijkt uit de kabinetsreactie, dit gebeurt voornamelijk omdat Nederland altijd tegen de doodstraf is. Dat de wet een nieuwe bouwsteen is in het apartheidssysteem waaronder de Palestijnen lijden, wordt in de gesprekken met Israël blijkbaar achterwege gelaten. In de ‘beslisnota’, ook van vorige week, wordt het feit dat alleen Palestijnen de doodstraf kunnen krijgen, helemaal niet genoemd. Nederland veroordeelt de wet dus, maar neemt geen maatregelen.

BDS werkt, actie loont. Deze week trok het pensioenfonds van de ambtenaren (ABP) zich terug uit het Amerikaanse bedrijf Palantir.
Dat het ABP nogal altijd investeert in farmaceut Teva bezorgt ons bijwerkingen als hoofdpijn en misselijkheid. Maar dat Palantir een prijs betaalt voor steun aan misdaden tegen de menselijkheid, is winst.
BDS steunt ook rechtsprocedures, ook daar zijn resultaten. Het Hof in Brussel oordeelde dat Belgische staat niet tijdig maatregelen genomen heeft de genocide te stoppen.
Het zijn lichtpuntjes in de schaduw van de voortdurende genocide. Het Israëlische parlement voerde deze week de doodstraf in voor Palestijnen alleen.
BDS blijft zich focussen op actie. We roepen op deel te nemen aan de demonstratie ter herdenking van de Palestijnse landdag, zaterdag 4 april op de Dam. En we blijven oproepen tot boycot, desinvestering en sancties. Blijf BDS’en!

Woensdagavond werd bekend dat pensioenfonds ABP, waar alle ambtenaren verplicht verzekerd zijn, zich terugtrekt uit het beruchte surveillance bedrijf Palantir.
Palantir verleent diensten die het Israëlische leger ondersteunen bij de genocide in Gaza, de onderdrukking en moord van Palestijnen op de Westelijke Jordaanoever en de illegale aanvallen op Libanon en Iran.
Het bedrijf verleent niet alleen diensten aan Israël, het heeft ook ideologische steun voor het land verklaard en ziet zichzelf als een trotse en actieve partner in het Israëlische militaire apparaat. Ook levert Palantir diensten aan ICE, de beruchte Amerikaanse immigratiepolitie.
Recent nog had het ABP 825 miljoen euro belegd in Palantir. BDS is blij met deze desinvestering en roept het ABP op zich te te houden aan verdere adviezen van beleggerssite Beleggen & Co, dat aanraadt te beleggen met meer aandacht voor Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG). En daarom bijvoorbeeld ook investeringen in farmaceutisch bedrijf Teva afraadt.
Op 18 maart oordeelde het Brussele Hof van Appel dat de Belgische staat niet tijdig alle mogelijke maatregelen heeft genomen om de genocide in Gaza tegen te gaan.
De zaak tegen de Belgische staat was aangespannen door rechtenorganisaties en Palestijnse slachtoffers van de genocide. Deze stelden dat België de plicht heeft het luchtruim te sluiten voor de doorvoer van militair materieel naar Israël. Ook eisten ze het verbod op handel met Israëlische nederzettingen en het opschorten van het associatieverdrag tussen de EU en Israël.
Het Hof in Brussel is van oordeel dat er met betrekking tot de doorvoer van wapens van urgentie sprake was, gezien het risico dat deze gebruikt zouden kunnen worden voor het plegen van oorlogsmisdaden of misdaden tegen de menselijkheid in Gaza. Het hof stelde ook dat deze verplichting teruggaat tot 26 januari 2024, toen het Internationaal Gerechtshof een beschikking uitvaardigde waarin een ernstig risico op genocide werd vastgesteld.
Het hof in Brussel heeft daarmee twee jaar van nalatigheid vastgesteld. Twee jaar waarin het Israëlische leger massamoord en massavernietiging in Gaza uitvoerde. De uitspraak onderstreept daarmee de criminele nalatigheid van internationale overheden om te handelen naar de verplichtingen van het verdrag ter voorkoming en bestraffing van genocide.
Twee jaar te laat dus, maar de uitspraak in Brussel geeft aanknopingspunten voor rechtsprocedures elders.

Vijftig jaar geleden - op 30 maart 1976 - vermoordden Israëlische ordediensten zes ongewapende Palestijnse staatsburgers van Israël. De zes protesteerden die dag in Galilea tegen de onteigening van hun land door de staat Israël. Honderden demonstranten raakten gewond.
Deze slachtpartij en etnische zuivering wordt sindsdien door de Palestijnen herdacht op wat ‘Yawm il-Ard’ is gaan heten; de dag van het land.
De etnische zuivering waar de Palestijnen die dag in 1976 tegen protesteerden waren niet van dezelfde orde van grootte als de Nakba, de verdrijving van zeker 750.000 Palestijnen in 1948. Maar net als de Nakba staat de Dag van het Land in het Palestijnse collectieve geheugen gegrift.
In 1976 beseften de Palestijnen dat de Nakba nooit gestopt is. En vijftig jaar later is verdrijving van de Palestijnen nog altijd in volle gang en op een schaal die zelfs 1948 lijkt te overschaduwen. In Gaza zijn honderdduizenden Palestijnen vermoord of van hun land verdreven. Op de Westoever terroriseren bendes soldaten en kolonisten Palestijnse dorpen. Het Israëlische regime intussen neemt wetten aan die nog meer onteigening van Palestijns land mogelijk maakt.
De herinnering aan de moord en landroof van maart ‘76 is nooit uit het Palestijnse bewustzijn verdreven. Deze week hielden bezette en onderdrukte Palestijnen in Palestina demonstraties. Ter ondersteuning hiervan organiseren BDS Nederland en andere organisaties morgen, zaterdag 4 april, in Amsterdam om 14 uur op de Dam een demonstratie in het kader van de vijftigste Dag van het Land.
Maandag 30 maart heeft de Knesset de wet "doodstraf voor terroristen" aangenomen die uitsluitend voor Palestijnen geldt. Die nu opgehangen moeten worden, ongeacht de eis. Binnen 90 dagen. Onherroepelijk. En nóg stelt de EU geen totaal embargo in.
Voor Israël betekent de wet het officieel invoeren van de doodstraf die alleen op Palestijnen van toepassing zal zijn. De laatste persoon in Israël die officieel ter dood werd veroordeeld was Adolf Eichmann, een sleutelfiguur in de Holocaust. Die werd door agenten van de Israëlische geheime dienst Mossad in mei 1960 opgespoord in Argentinië en naar Israël ontvoerd. Daar werd hij twee jaar later opgehangen. Dat gezegd hebbende heeft Israël in de jaren daarvoor en daarna talloze buitengerechtelijke executies van Palestijnen uitgevoerd
Naast blijven boycotten en oproepen tot desinvesteringen en sancties, kun je een petitie van The Rights Forum ondertekenen die de regering oproep tot actie tegen de Israelische martelkampen.

Groot nieuws: Spanje heeft zojuist het luchtruim gesloten voor Amerikaanse vliegtuigen die betrokken zijn bij de oorlog in Iran, en daarmee bewijzen ze dat we NEE kunnen zeggen tegen Trump! Er hoeven maar een paar landen te volgen om echt momentum te creëren. Teken nu deze oproep aan Nederlandse, Belgische, Italiaanse, Britse en andere belangrijke leiders: sluit het luchtruim en wees niet medeplichtig aan deze illegale oorlog!
Trump sleept de wereld nog dieper in deze chaos. Maar deze week nam Spanje het initiatief tot verzet.
De Spaanse overheid heeft een enorme stap gezet door haar luchtruim te sluiten voor alle Amerikaanse militaire vluchten betrokken bij de oorlog. Ze spreken zich moedig uit en weigeren mee te werken aan de illegale oorlog van Trump en Netanyahu.
De scheuren in Trumps plannen worden groter; dat laat Spanje zien ondanks Trumps dreigementen. Nu is het aan ons: als wij dit de komende 48 uur kunnen omzetten in een Europese beweging, kunnen we onze leiders de kracht geven om NEE te zeggen tegen Trump. Doe mee en help ons deze oorlog te parkeren door het Europese luchtruim te sluiten:
Ondanks Trumps dreigementen staat Spanje op voor de waarden waar veel Europese leiders zich bij aansluiten. De moed van Spanje laat zien dat het mogelijk is om een ruggengraat te tonen en op te komen voor vrede en mensenrechten. Maar ze staan er alleen voor.
Laten we hen steunen: als Nederland, België, Italië en enkele andere landen het Spaanse voorbeeld volgen, kunnen we momentum creëren en twijfelende landen zoals Duitsland en het VK overtuigen. Zonder toegang tot het Europese luchtruim kan de Amerikaanse grondaanval een logistieke nachtmerrie worden.
Laten we daarom deze kans pakken en belangrijke Europese landen oproepen zich tegen Trumps oorlogsmachine uit te spreken en te pleiten voor vrede en democratie.

Israel is using its war of aggression to tighten its grip on Al-Aqsa, we can’t allow that to stand
For over a month, Palestinian worshippers have been completely restricted from entering Al-Aqsa in occupied East Jerusalem. During Ramadan, when the compound should be filled with prayer, Israeli forces limited entry, erected checkpoints, and used force to disperse people attempting to worship, even on the outskirts of the compound. Israel imposed a full closure of the Mosque and the Old City at the start of its war of aggression on Iran on February 28th, invoking the oft-repeated “security concerns” justification due to its war of choice. But these restrictions are part of a long-standing system that controls who can enter, when, and under what conditions, routinely denying Palestinians their basic right to worship. The closure continued through Eid, and now Israeli officials have stated it will be closed through mid-April.
Take Action: Demand Accountability and Protection for Al-Aqsa
It doesn’t end there. The Jerusalem Governorate has warned of organized settler efforts to carry out animal sacrifices inside or around the Al-Aqsa compound, a direct provocation that threatens to ignite widespread violence and further violate the sanctity of one of Islam’s holiest sites. These actions are part of a broader push by extremist settler groups seeking to fundamentally alter the longstanding status quo of Al-Aqsa.
This comes on top of years of escalating incursions, attacks on worshippers, and attempts to undermine the custodial authority of the Islamic Waqf (endowment), which is responsible for administering the site. International law is clear: East Jerusalem is Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT), and an occupying power has no sovereignty to impose permanent changes on religious or cultural sites.
Yet, the violations continue unchecked. We have seen how quickly U.S. officials can act when access to religious sites is restricted elsewhere. When Israel restricted access to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, U.S. officials, including Ambassador Mike Huckabee and Senator Ted Cruz, immediately pressured Israel to reverse course and restore Christian worship. That same urgency has been absent here. The administration must apply the same standard and pressure Israel to reopen Al-Aqsa Mosque and defend Palestinian Muslims’ right to worship.
